Dr. Sarah Klagsbrun, MD

Dr. Klagsbrun was not involved in the patient treatment until the last minute when she took over, refusing discharge against the recommendations of the rest of the team. She was a poor communicator, vague about meeting times, expecting family to be available all day, only to be a no call, no show. She viewed the patient through an exclusively negative lens, discarding anything positive anyone else had to say. During a family meeting, she expressed a belief that 'autistic people who are 'intelligent' do not experience difficulties with autism'. She also claimed the patient had 'no healthy hobbies', even after going through his journal and seeing creative, healthy interests. She refused to acknowledge progress and the effects of drug therapy. She displayed a consistently negative attitude towards the patient and family. She comes from a place of fear and negativity. That was her focus. It felt like poison.

She just sat across from me for about 40 seconds with a bunch of "students" all around her. She then spewed a whole lot of psychobabble before putting me on the same schizophrenia medicine she puts everyone else on. As soon as I saw my regular doctor I went on the right antidepressant and started to feel better. Maybe if she listened to me instead of trying so hard to sound smart I could have avoided weeks of pain. I'm not a teaching subject, I was just trying to get help.
