Disrespectful, uncaring, required painful tests
My family member was hospitalized at Baxter Regional. Dr. Martin was consulted because my family member had fluid in the lungs. My family member spent a week at Baxter but was sent home without a diagnosis or help for the awful symptoms. A week later, my family member returned to Baxter ER. The ER physicians ran tests and soon discovered my family member had advanced, late-stage cancer. (AFTER a team of other Baxter specialists failed to discover this.) Dr. Martin insisted on subjecting my family member to an extremely painful lung tube to 'confirm' cancer instead of aligning with another group of doctors who had recommended a much less painful test procedure. Subsequently, Dr. Martin bounced into my family member's hospital room and essentially said, "You have terminal cancer. You can take treatment or go home and die." When my family member chose to go home, Dr. Martin mercilessly tore the lung tube out and said, "Well, this is better than languishing 20 years in a nursing home.

We have had wonderful experiences with Dr. Martin. Trips to ER then to hospital were getting to be a habit for my husband. She got him over several bad problems from exacerbation of his COPD and her expert care and teaching us, combined with our own diligence in following her instructions, has kept him out of the hospital for 2 years now. She took care to look after his psychological well-being as well, bringing up his hobbies and personal needs...helping him learn what amenities are available for people with problems like his (like handicap placards for our cars and permission to use special access to fishing areas in the state parks).

Dr. Martin has the BEST bedside manor I've ever seen in an MD. I am still seeing her for a chronic illness and her Nurse (RN) keeps me up to date on everything. When I call about a concern, I get an answer within 24 hours; even though I've never had to wait that long for a reply. I would, will, and do recommend her to anyone I meet needing her expertise.
