Our favorite
We saw Dr. Kwak for 3 years before she stopped diabetes. One of the best doctors we’ve seen in our 76 years. Very nice, knowledgeable, helpful. Only sorry we can’t keep her for our diabetes.

Terrible just terrible
I was referred to Dr Kwak by my OB/GYN for hypothyroidism and can say she runs a terrible medical practice. I work as a healthcare professional and I would never speak to my staff or treat them the way she does. I can’t believe she has anyone willing to work for her. She has her staff harass you - I received calls / texts multiple times a day for an appointment over a month away and began to just ignore them. When I had to reschedule an Appt because my baby was sick I was confronted with a nasty phone call and a letter was sent to my house threatening to drop me as a patient. The Dr has terrible bedside manner and is so rushed and can be very defensive if you even ask her a question. Please see someone else and save yourself from a negative experience

I was referred to Dr. Kwak by my IVF office. Dr. Kwak has the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered. She treats her staff horrible. If you are pregnant and under her care, be careful. My Thyroid became so low my OBGYN said you need to cut back on the medication. I called DR. kwaks office to inform them what I was being told by my OBGYN. Dr. Kwak got on the phone and said I won’t have a Kaiser doctor interfering in my practice. Continue taking the full dose as prescribed. Until your next appointment. I have plenty of Newport Beach OBGYN’s who don’t interfere in my practice. Wow, this coming from a prior Kaiser doctor herself. I felt attacked by her and told her so. I’m pregnant and letting you know what my OBGYN is telling me as a concern and that is your response. Dr. Kwak proceeded to tell me you can talk to Jenna and decide who you want to treat this condition. Again, I won’t have a Kaiser doctor interfering in my practice.

This doctor is rude and can only pull brochures from a drawer and up your medication. She had no answers for my questions regarding hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease. Upon asking for clarification about side effects, she responded, "I just told you." She has no experience with recent studies and alternative treatments. I do not recommend her.

Has to be the worst doctor I have ever come in contact with. Because I told her something she didn’t agree with, without talking to me she dropped me from her practice and demanded $ for the inconvenience. It was the worst experience with a doctor I have ever had, it is defiantly for the $ and not the care of her patients

I am writing this review as a healthcare professional with doctorate degree. I read many peer review articles about stiffness of arteries when you have hypothyroidism. I wanted her opinion specifically about this and looking for an answer why my blood pressure is not coming down with 100 mg of Losartan due to my thyroid issue. She didn’t have answer for it. Showed me her white coat that said endocrinologist and referred me to my primary doctor or cardiologist. I didn’t have this BP issue before my Thyroid problem and obviously this is related to my most recent thyroid problem. But she only focuses on thyroid and doesn’t relate the rest of body physiology to the thyroid. Although she didn’t took my insurance I paid $350 to specifically get an answer for this but she truly disappointed me. I won’t be returning to her office.

Never got a chance to meet the Doctor because the Shrew at the front desk was horrible. I waited 2 months for a new patient appt. I was told to arrive at 10:30 for my 11:00am appt. After driving around looking for a parking spot for 15 minutes (and leaving my home at 10am), I received a call from the office. I told her I was waiting for the elevator and I'll be right up. It was super slow and unfortunately the address on the list my gyno gave me said suite 350, so I went to the wrong suite. I then had to call for her the correct suite number, 310. When I arrive at 10:40am, she said I was late. My appt was at 11:00am. She told me I had to reschedule. Really!?! It does not take that long to fill out paperwork. I tried to reason with her saying I would fill it out quickly but she wouldn't have it. Completely rude, unreasonable and insensitive. Seriously, does anyone get into the doctors office at their appt time? Avoid this office!!

All doctors should follow a certain code of conduct even if they themselves are not compassionate or warm individuals; Dr. Kwak lacks basic respect and professional courtesies when asked the simplest of questions. Every time I advocated for myself or asked reasonable questions like, why are you changing my medication, my dose, or why might my body be responding this way, Dr. Kwak immediately became defensive or short and in some instances blatantly rude and unprofessional. Horrible experience.

This doctor is terrible. She’s rude and insulting and operates her office like she’s in the 1980s. They harass you to get your blood done, they want to dictate what lab you go to and the list goes on. They are so militant in their operations and will send you nasty letters to drop you if you need to reschedule an appointment. They bill incorrectly, the doctor lacks compassion and I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor and find a better endo who actually knows how to run a business

I started going to her a few yrs ago. Was happy because I got in/out quickly because she deals w/ thyroid only. Yesterday I terminated my relationship w/her for the following reasons. 1) even though she accepts HealthNet PPO, they had problems w/insurance EVERYTIME. Billed the wrong one, charged me more than my Co-pay etc. Also she never lets patient ask questions if not 100% about thyroid. Shuts you down abruptly. Says she ONLY deals w/ thyroid, even if you are asking something for clarity.

Wish I could give zero stars. Appointments are rushed. She doesn’t really listen. She just wants to prescribe Synthrpid. When you question her, she become defensive and will bully you to do it her way. Saw her twice and wanted to cry each time I left her office.

Two visits after, Dr. Kwak still has not given me definitive diagnosis of my thyroid issue. I don't know if I have hyper or hypothyroidism, autoimmune, etc. I could not make it to one appointment and so she mailed me cancelling me as one of her patients and informing me that she was not going to renew any of my prescriptions. It's good I'm not even taking medications for my thyroid. Very disappointed with Dr. Kwak and her office.

OMG.. run the other this Dr. thinks she is God. She is rude reprimands and belittles her employees in front of you. Tells you ignore all other advice other Dr.’s have given me to quote her “I am a specialist “. She is extremely condescending. I didn’t believe all the reviews but now I have to say I confirm as well all the other reviews stating virtually the same experience. The worst beside manner ever. I feel sorry for her staff she seems to enjoy humilating them in front of her patients.

Dr. Kwak is great. She has been treating me for Thyroid Cancer. Her guidance has been thoughtful, constructive, and put me at ease. Her confidence made me feel very good about my treatment. She is very organized and gives you the tools to keep your treatment organized as well. Very good experience in a difficult time.

I was a new patient, never got to meet with her. I had left my paperwork at home, came straight from work and was 35 minutes early. Was told i have to reschedule as that was not enough time to input information into the computer. i needed to be an hour early. i left and cancelled my appt as i realized i did not want ot be with a Dr. who put inputting information into the system over meeting with a new patient. After i read the yelp reviews i am glad i made this decision. Unprofessional!

I found Dr. Kwak because I had hyperthyroidism. My GP doctor did nothing it was a dermatologist friend that looked at my blood test and told me to see an endocrinologist. She knew exactly what to do and within two weeks I was feel much better. She is systematic, not talkative, there is no small talk, but she is a good doctor.
