OUTSTANDING
I have multiple problems with my back. The one that was debilitating me was severe articular joint arthritis. I am 69 years old and could barely walk because of the pain. Dr. Polk injected my arthritic joints with steroids 3 months ago and i was 85% better. He did a seond injection today and I am pain free for the first time in a year . He is also a nice and caring physician.

Disappointed
What stood out was that I was to be a New Patient. I got to the back and the first thing said was he does not give medicine, then went through the preliminaries e.g., blood pressure, questions and preceded to wait to meet Dr Polk to discuss my 9 year degenerative bone disease disability which has not been treated in 5 years. The young lady asked for MRI results and I said I did not know I was to bring them. No one told me. She left, came back in and said Dr Polk will not see me because I did not have them. That was considered 2 rides deducted from my senior insurance who provides transportation. Finding someone else! That could have been telehealth

I hate that Dr Polk nurse takes forever to get back with you. They take so long to do whatever treatment they plan on doing. My procedure has been scheduled over one month out. I have been dealing with my problems too long and they treat nothing as urgent. I will be looking for another physician.

First I want to make clear that I adore Dr.Polk. He is the only doctor that actually listened to me and tried to help. Now, the people who are supposed to fight with your insurance company to get the much needed surgery? Not so much! It’s been almost a year and they still can’t reach somebody? Even though I’ve gotten all the information for them and gave it to Dr.Polk to give them, and still nothing is done. Like I said, I love Dr. Polk, but I really really need my surgery. It’s getting so much worse.

i’ve seen Dr. Polk for at least 9 years due to disc degeneration & arthritis in my lower back. before coming to Semmes-Murphy, i “took the tour” of several other doctors & back clinics in Memphis & was not pleased w/ the care & treatment. Dr. Polk takes the time to listen carefully to my complaints. he thoroughly explains the treatment options i have available. he treats my pain issues. he is always respectful & knowledgeable & caring. i cannot imagine having another back pain care doctor. he’s the best i’ve ever seen.

I saw Dr. Polk for pain management for 17 years for a very bad back after being referred by a Semmes Murphy doctor. I thought he was kind and caring and I liked him very much. On my last appointment I was taken to a treatment room and his nurse, Leah, came in and told me Dr. Polk couldn't see me anymore. After 17 years there was no explanation. The only thing I can imagine would be my age (80) and health condition? You would think after that long a time he would be courteous enough to come in and explain why. I am still very hurt by this.

I liked his professionalism and he Care and was concern but mostly I like that I called back a day later and spoke with his nurse on some things that I needed to know she got right back with a fast response. I like that I’m from Maryland and being down in the south it’s a lot different but that was nice ??

My husband is finally feeling relief after receiving care from Dr. Polk. His bedside manner was amazing and he is truly a professional and good at what he does. The staff was kind and they took time to answer questions and make us feel comfortable. Hope we don't have to see them too much but it does take away some stress if we do :) Thank you!

I was referred to Dr. Polk for an epidural nerve block. He was prompt, courteous, and explained everything thoroughly before the procedure. He communicated throughout the 5 or 10 min procedure, I felt no pain or discomfort once. I was worried about pain afterwards and have had none at all. He is clearly well trained and I am glad he was recommended by both the neurosurgeon and neurologist. Looking forward to being pain free. Thank you Dr. Polk
