He left no questions unanswered
He was calm and reassuring as he reviewed several options of what was causing my severe belly pain. He spoke with my daughter and her husband and reviewed what he would be looking for in surgery and depending on what he found what would be involved in repairing the issue. He answered numerous questions.I was kept comfortable during my recovery.I would not hesitate to recommend him .

Worst experience ever
I will never go to this hospital again. After a week at home with high fever, puking and severe pain in my side, my husband took me to the closest emergency room… riverview noblesville. After being in the emergency room for several hours, running test and trying to ease my pain we were told I need to be admitted but not to worry because I will see one of the best dr in the morning. After being up all night in the emergency room and being moved upstairs my husband and I had finally fallen asleep to be very rudely woken up by dr Heiser. By the time he left the room I was in tears because of how he rude he was. Dr Heiser ran more test and decided that I was just passing gallstones but that didn’t add up with what was going on. My body was shutting down and I couldn’t drink or eat without puking. My face was so swollen I looked like I had been in a fight. Dr Heiser refused to do the surgery that was needed which was to remove my gallbladder. Dr Heiser was going to leave me the whole week

Very skilled surgeon and a genuine human being.
This past month I had a bilateral hernia repair performed by Dr. Heiser. This is the second surgical procedure that Dr. Heiser has helped me with. This time he had to fix someone else's work done years ago. I use MyChart to follow medical records, test results, track lab tesults and I read chart notes closely having worked in healthcare. Surgical notes were clear, more than adequately detailed. Post-op follow up was performed with the same personable insightful consideration as the initial consultation. Dr. Heiser is surrounded by a team of professional and office staff who collectively helped contribute to two successful procedures.

Definitely Not
One of the worst doctors that I have come in contact with. I went to the ER in severe pain. CT showed it was likely appendicitis. I was scheduled to have surgery with Heiser that day at 4pm. He refused to operate because I could walk and was not in enough pain for him. Most of his notes from my visit are incorrect. They read more like a diary than an actual clinical report. He practically put all his feelings into my chart - it made him upset because I apparently was walking fine so I absolutely COULD NOT have appendicitis. Some people have high pain tolerances or are just an abnormal case. I stayed overnight because I was worried that my appendix could rupture if I went home. They didn't do another CT, only bloodwork. They sent me home the next day, despite my pain not subsiding. Heiser told me he had no idea what was wrong, didn't try to figure it out either. I went to IU North the 3rd day. They did a CT, noted it was and had been appendicitis the whole time, and operated. Go to IU.

Thourough
Dr. Heiser is straight forward and thorough. With existing other health issues he has guided me to ensure all issues are accounted for prior to the issue I initially visited him for, as the issue I visited for has other causes beyond what seems benign on the surface.

Dr. Heiser listened patiently to my reason for being there. He asked questions about my family's longevity and health issues and checked the area in question, then presented options with a booklet of illustrations. We concurred that I would continue following the same procedures as I had been following since my initial visit about a year and a half ago. He did not recommend surgery at this time. At all times, Dr. Heiser was very patient with his explanations and listening to my concerns.

Excellent doctor/surgeon. Had severe infection in intestines. Ended up having to have part of intestine removed as antibiotic transfusions wouldn't work. Due to CT Scan he ordered lung cancer was accidentally discovered. Dr Heiser called in 5 other doctors that night to see how they felt was best way to proceed.
