Dr Hughes is the best! Highly skilled, professional and knowledgeable! He diagnosed and then performed a colectomy on me on June 15, 2020. My pain has gone from an 8/9 to a 2. My activity level is getting back to normal. Dr. Hughes is attentive and cares about his patients!

Saw Dr Hughes when I was admitted in hospital for diverticulitis after antibiotic treatment he decided I needed to have surgery to remove the bad part of my colon. Had surgery recovering well! Dr Hughes is great! He’s very concerned with his patients health. Dr Hughes pays close attention to detail and he even let me know about a test result after hours that I was concerned about. I would refer anyone to Dr Hughes without a doubt I feel very comfortable with him and his staff

I was referred to Dr Hughes in 2013 for a cholecystectomy. I was comfortable with him immediately and my surgery was scheduled immediately. He spoke with us before and after the surgery, and was wonderful when I followed up with him in the office. Fast forward to this year, and I'm having issues with GERD, and may choose surgery to correct. I chose to go to Dr. Hughes because I trust in him. I am all for a great bedside manner, and see nothing wrong with Dr. Hughes. Could he smile more? Crack a joke? Maybe, and he has, but my body and my life require his seriousness, and professionalism. So, as long as I have that, I am fine with the rest. Their time is very much in demand, I know, as I schedule for another practice. Thank you, Dr. Hughes, and your staff, for treating me. I appreciate your time, expertise, and professionalism.

He doesn’t take time to talk to patient. After surgery he didn’t come by the room until the day of discharge. I found out I had a hernia repair through the nurse looking through my chart. I have call several times after surgery , and the answer is always it’s not surgery related or give it a few days and then call back. It makes me feel like it was all about the money

Disappointed in SC – Jul 21, 2018

I was referred to Dr. Hughes by my PCP. I told him of my problems and history with small bowel obstructions. He admitted me to the hospital in a weakened state and began a conservative treatment approach. Three days later I went home with good test results and no surgery needed. He visited me every day and was directing my treatment at all times. I have dealt with many surgeons over the course of thirty years treatment and found him to be one of the best.

Dr. Hughes performed abdominal surgery on me last Thurs. His bedside manner is horrible, & he never spoke to my husband or mom before or after surgery. A week has passed & we haven't had a call asking how I'm doing or do we know how bad the adhesions were. With 5 incisions I was sent home with Percocet 5/325 & it didn't touch the pain. My mom called him Fri & he called in Tramadol. Thank the Lord I saw my PCP post-op. Dr. I'd never refer anyone to him for anything!!!!

Person that said he didn't spend the time with her was probably not aware of the schedule a surgeon is required to maintain. He took the needed time with me and answered all questions thoroughly. My surgery went very well and I have complete confidence in recommending him to my friends.

I was referred to Dr. Hughes by my regular physician. This was the absolute worst doctors visit I've been on. He has a horrible bedside manner. I was only there for a consultation and the way he treated me and spoke to me I knew then he would not perform surgery on me EVER! I can't believe medical professionals have the nerve to handle people like that without any regard.
