Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates
I have been seeing Dr. Ryan Valicek for a few years now. He has always been knowledgeable and very understanding. He takes time answering my questions and concerns. A lot of information is provided to ensure I understand my treatment options and conditions. When my pharmacy sends a request for prescription refills, they quickly respond. The office and medical staff are always polite, friendly, and willing to help! I highly recommend Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates.

Dr. Valicek and his PA, MA and office manager
Dr. Valicek is one of my favorite Drs and I have gone to him for many many years. However, I am at a point where I am going to be forced to switch due to his staff. The front office is rude, unorganized, busy on their personal phones, typically do not answer the office phone and slow to return the calls(if at all). The big issue is they have put me in terrible positions on a medication I have taken for over two years which requires timely communication from the Dr's office for approval. I have been working on this since the first of January and have been told it is being worked on and sent immediately. Nothing. Went in the office personally and was told paperwork was sent on Jan. 31. That was a blatant lie. Had another conversation explaining I am running out of meds and need this handled...assured me they would work on it that day and call me back. I am into the second day and nothing. I wish Dr. Valicek knew how bad his staff is hurting his patients and practice.

I hate putting a low rating, because Valicek himself is ok. Its his staff and billing department that is the problem. They scheduled a follow up appointment to my wife's blood tests, without telling us. Then, when we missed her appointment (that we didn't know about), they charged us for it. This, of course, is not even close to OK. But their billing department doesn't care. We will find a different doctor, because we refuse to be blackmailed.

Front desk checked me in and took my copay and then a few minutes later said I’m sorry but he won’t see you today because you were late. I’ve also called multiple times to get my lab results without a return call from his staff. He is knowledgeable and friendly enough but his staff is less than qualified. Overall not a good experience and will be looking for a different provider

Horrible receptionists. I’ve now been waiting 3 weeks for an appointment after 3 phone calls of “we need your fax referral.” My Dr.’s office had already submitted my paperwork the day I called, and “mysteriously”, this office failed to receive it. They then brought in a manager that had all of a sudden “found it”. I’ve called about 6 times in the span of 3 weeks and I never received an appointment. Therefore, if you feel like waiting an eternity and a day for an appointment, this is the office you.

I think that Dr. Valicek is very well qualified, but you sometimes have to see the physicians assistant who is not so qualified. The office didn’t accept United Healthcare Secure Horizons insurance but did accept United Healthcase AARP insurance. United Healthcare said both are accepted. So now I have to fight with the office staff to get back my copay that they erroneously charged me.

He is honest, straight forward, engaging, though many patients may not like this style of medicine, he is not going to let you treat yourself. Don't get me wrong ,he will take your subjective overview of your symptoms but believe me you will not be self treating. Haven said that if you seek a doctor that will implement that old bedside manner and combine it with new knowledge and technology ,He is your rheumatologist

HE ALWAYS LISTENS TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY. BEFORE GIVING ME ANY NEW MEDICATION HE RESEARCHES IT TO MAKE SURE IT DOES NOT EFFECT MY OTHER HEALTH ISSUES.

Likes to argue, does not provide answers to questions when asked. Patients are not allowed to finish their sentence before he cuts in and try's to finish it for the patient. Very poor listener, asked the dr to look at my feet today and he forgot I even asked him. I think that he should consider another line of work as this is not a good match to the combative approach of communication. Avoid this dr if you desire a partnership with your physician.

I had a first time visit with Dr. Valicek in which blood was drawn for testing. Dr. Valicek was pleasant and competent. Toq weeks after the visit I received a bill for the lab tests from LabCorp for almost $1,300 with large print saying BALANCE DUE NOW. I was shocked! Then I realized Dr. Valicek did not share my insurance information with LabCorp. I had to go online or call and give them my insurance info. Thankfully I ended up paying only $11 to LabCorp.
