He made my life wonderful!
I had an ALIF performed by Dr. Nockels in 2001. It was a 7 1/2 hour surgery and I had intensive physical therapy for 6 months, yes it was painful with a long recovery, but 21 years later I still have great mobility. I walk 4 to 5 miles daily. Thank you Dr. Nockles and Erin. You have made my life and now my retirement wonderful. I now life in Asheville NC and I enjoy hiking in the mountains. I am grateful to you!

Professional demeanor with added warmth in his personality. He was confident that he could help my father barring any negative issues concerning his heart or any other issue found in the interim before surgery. I was terrified going in, and walked out with a feeling of hope.

Dr. Nockels operated on my mother at 80 years of age, she had spinal stenosis in the lower spine. The outcome was fabulous, she walked out of the hospital after one week. Her pain level during recovery was low and she regained some strength and balance. When my husband needed surgery for spinal stenosis in his neck Dr. Nockels again did a wonderful job. His recovery has been very good.

I have had cervical and lumbar surgeries performed by Dr Nockels. He is an amazing doctor and so is his PA, Erin Schilling. I received excellent treatment from both of them. They are extremely kind and compassionate. Thanks to them, my back is 100% better. I was in terrible pain prior to surgery. I highly recommend them both. You won’t find a better neurosurgeon!

After my first visit he ordered many unnecessary tests. After this he resign to do the surgery but before after reviewing my mri's he said I need one. My insurance paid his hospital over 30k for nothing and I waste 3 months of my time. Never recommend to anybody

I truly liked him, seemed very concerned, asked questions and listened. Ordered tests and was very thorough. I'm very optimistic he will get to the root of what's going on with me. Very pleased from ladies at check in desk to lab and radiology. Very pleased I came here ????

Unwilling to "dig" into complex issues. Dismissive and reliant on old tests (done by other doctors he doesn't know, that were done before onset of symptoms). Does not listen to the patient. Waste of time and money and a frustrating shame. Dr. Nockels really needs to adapt more of an open mind and stay up on current medical literature and findings as it pertains to patients coming to see him.

It's been 7 years since my fusion & I still can't walk without pain. I would never go back there.............. I was so drugged I was hallusinating for 3 days. The nurses were terrible & even took my phone away. They never talked to my family or answered their questions. My son-in-law had to stay with me 2 nights. & He sent me home with more Fentynal.

It only took this wonderful surgeon 1hr to repair the screwed up fusion surgery that Dr Kraus from Memorial Hospital in Decatur did to me! I suffered for 3yrs before I found Dr Nockels and was contemplating using a hand gun as a pain killer. The pain now has subsided to a point where it is tolerable. Thank you Dr Nockels for giving me something to live for again!
