I absolutely LOVE the NPs that work there. If not for them, I wouldn’t be a patient. Their attention to detail and compassion by far exceeds the MDs.

Terrible doctor
Dr Maggio only sees patients for physicals. His NP’s do all the patient visits. The NP’s are smart and caring but out of depth with serious problems. When put into the physical visit rotation, met Dr. Maggio for the first time. Asked how I got into his practice, as he only takes referrals from existing patients. (Which I had). Noted I was going through a disability hearing and stated I must have mental issues because nothing is wrong with me medically. All this within 10 mins of meeting me. I had disabilitating illness that was yet to be diagnosed, until it progressed out of control and required emergency intervention.

Has a cruel streak
I first saw him in 1992w/depression, insomnia &pain~Nothing helped~In 2015 I spoke w/my sister re a childhood incident~Afterward my symptoms were severe~After learning this Dr M said I had CPTSD~After 23 yrs it was good to finally know~I felt safe &understood by a Dr for the first time in my life~For me this was huge2 wks ago my husband (also his patient) needed an antibioticThis time he saw someone new, Kelly, who refused to prescribe it~He asked me to explain what he needed~I did my best but she was stubborn~I said no unkind words nor raised my voice.~Dr. M agreed w/us &Kelly became insubordinate& left the room.5 days later we got a letter saying we're being discharged after 31yrs! He didnt have the decency to sign the letter or return my calls. Total disregard for me & my well being. Kicking anyone to the curb is bad but to do it to a person w/severe CPTSD is crueltyAt age 60 I have under 30 days to find new care w/a very complex illness & 5 medications needing renewal!

I feel Abandoned & Hurt by my own Dr! – Nov 15, 2023

Dr. Maggio Review
I have been a patient of Dr. Maggio's since the late 1980's. I have always found the care in his office to be excellent. He takes the time to listen to my problem/s, then explains to me the appropriate next step, whether a prescription or additional lab testing.Over the years a physician's assistant and three nurse practitioners have bee added to the practice. I usually see them now for routine ailments and find their care also excellent. I am fine with this. I know that if something of a very serious nature occurred, that Dr. Maggio would be certainly be involved in treating me, and this has happened. Dr. Maggio sees me for annual physicals. This is my time to bring a list of any concerns which he addresses with me. At times, we all wish that office visits could be longer but those days are gone in any primary care office so far as I know from friends and family. Dr. Maggio's office has a great team of providers all of which have served me well.

Very Professional, Thorough, and Helpful
Met with PA Scott. Made the appointment that morning. Reviewed my issues and provided a plan to address them. Referred an x-ray. Went down the road for the x-ray, and all paperwork was there. Picked up my meds at Wegmans shortly thereafter. Perfect.

Dr Maggio has always been avalable if I needed to discuss any health issues and also help me greatly after being diagnosed with cancer. Yes most times have seen a NP or assistant all highly qualified. If it's not urgent , I don;t expect to see him since there may be others more dire than me.

Honest and caring
Dr Maggio appears to balance very demanding schedule and patient needs. He has always been available if you tell his staff you need to see him. He is honest and forthright. Also he has very competent staff to meet your everyday needs when a PA is appropriate.

Maggio literally told me that if I lost weight my big boobs would go away……we weren’t even talking about my boobs……who says that to a patient? Which is a shame because he’s a family friend. Can’t even see him unless it’s a year out. They screwed up my family members’ physical appointment even though they had it in writing that it was a certain date and refused to honor the original date. His practice has gone down hill. He needs to retire.

Our family has been seeing Dr. Maggio for perhaps 40 years or so. He has always been top notch and caring. I really don't see anything the others are complaining about. We see him for annual physical, deal with wonderful NP's in the meantime. Rednetly both my wife and I had some serious issues, and he joined in with the NPs to diagnose and take care of us each time. He cares and is always involved when we have problems.

Recent reviews here about how Maggio has gone downhill are accurate. During the current pandemic, he blatantly shows no regard for proper safeguards. He actually told me “I hope I get COVID so that I can get the antibodies.” Claimed the whole thing was political. He wore a mask into the exam room but then instantly took it down and essentially mocked me for being concerned about it. As others have indicated, it is almost impossible to see him anyway. I don’t plan on going back to him unless I can’t find another provider.

This man is a horrible doctor more interested in profit than patient well-being. I was a patient of Dr. Maggio's for the last 20 years. At first he was very good at tending to my needs, but over the last ten years it has been almost impossible to see him. I have been referred to PA's and NP's in his office, instead. Some were good and some were very incompetent. I always deferred to them, but recently I was diagnosed and then not diagnosed with a serious form of cancer by doctors at Strong Hospital. I was confused and called to secure an appointment with Dr. Maggio to figure out my options. I was told by his receptionist that I could see him that very day. When I went in to see him, I was told that I was to see a physician's assistant, instead. When I stated that I has asked to see a DOCTOR to review my diagnosis, I was told it was not possible. When I got up and left the examination room, Dr. Maggio was right outside typing on his computer. He couldn't even spare five minutes.

Unsatisfied patient – Aug 18, 2020
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Maggio?
I was a patient of Dr. Maggio for over 25 years. I valued his excellent care until about 5 years ago when I lost confidence in him. He blatantly states that seeing a primary care doctor is a thing of the past. He is unavailable and even for a serious condition he won't see you. His physician assistant and many nurse practitioners are the only staff you see. One of them told us he has over 10000 patients and it is all about billing now. He was a premier primary care physician who is brilliant and HAD great bedside manner. That is a thing of the past. His empire has become a great business for him and a sad commentary for his patients. I personally know several people who have left the practice after being unable to see the doctor except for an annual physical. Today a friend told me he stated that the hospitals are inflating covid 19 numbers because they get paid more for them. I hope that is not true but what a terrible thing to say at a time like this.

I have been a patient of Dr. Maggio since 1984. While it's true that "ordinary" appointments are handled by the PA or Nurse Practitioners, I can say based on experience that they are all exceptional. All have access to Dr. Maggio for consultation and when the diagnosis or appointment type requires Dr. Maggio to engage, he does. I have never felt that the care is "less than". Wait times have GREATLY improved over the years. I am very pleased.

Have been a patient for over 10 years. Used to see Dr regularly and was very happy as his patient but now most only see him for a full physical (maybe once/year) and it's just not the same. Seems to be more about billing than patient customer service the last few years. After growing more and more frustrated, I finally decided to find another practice and a Dr that will take the time to get to know ME, MY health issues and not just check a box and bill my insurance!!

Just had to write a review for this. I scheduled an appointment for a standard physical exam on June 19, 2018. I knew that the actual exam would be scheduled for a few months out. I was expecting Sept or Oct. Guess when the next available date was available for my exam? February 27, 2019! I'm not making that up. Not sure why the long delay. In any case, to me, that's really poor customer service. Nobody should have to wait over 7 months for a physical.
