Learn about your own issues
Most important to a medical visit is to get more insight into a problem. Dr Bloom helped put my GI issues into context. As an old guy, 88 yrs , nothing is perfect but understanding is most important. Dr Bloom has excellent people skills. Good man.

Very rude and condescending.
He was one of the most rude, obnoxious and condescending doctors I've ever encountered! If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. He may be intelligent, but his bedside manner is terrible. I was surprised to read other reviews that said he was so caring and responsive. I found the exact opposite to be true. He never followed up personally after colonoscopy with results, he wouldn't return a phone call, he would not sign off on colonoscopy results so that I could get a copy of my record until well over a month after the colonsocscopy and only after many phone calls etc. to his gatekeeping staff. Also, his front desk people were also awful. They were rude and unhelpful and made no effort to help us resolve our problems with getting authorization for a procedure from our insurance company and prevented us from getting in touch with the doctor. We switched providers to a much more caring individual and practice as a whole and never looked back.

I like him but
He did 2 colonoscopy for me and generally he is a nice man that seems to care. However yesterday after my second colonoscopy he didn’t talk to me at all afterwards even though the printout they gave me had some not so great comments. I was very disappointed.

Worst experience
I went in to discuss heartburn and general stomach pain. I am also an overweight woman. And while being overweight can cause these symptoms and I am aware of that, I found him extremely offensive during the visit. He assumed I “don’t know how to cook.” I must “go out to eat everyday.” Both of which are far from the truth. He compared me to “skinny” people . And he told me he knew losing weight was hard because he “had a wife.” The saddest part is I had come to the appointment to try to get help with my stomach pains because I feel they hinder my ability to lose weight but I felt like he wasn’t listening and didn’t respect me. A doctor can tell a patient to lose weight kindly and in a million better ways.
