Dr. Romeo Lucas, DO

Dr. Lucas is the most thoughtful practitioner I have ever worked with. I have spent many years seeking help for my endometriosis and pelvic pain. Dr Lucas was eager to help. He took his time thoroughly reviewing my medical history and understanding my pain. Finding a provider who truly listens and takes your concerns seriously can be difficult, but I am grateful to have found one who has made such a positive impact on my life. I highly recommend Dr. Lucas to anyone experiencing pelvic pain, or any related health issues. He is the best!!!

I was a patient in 2018 when Dr Lucas was practicing at MaineGeneral in Augusta. I suffered extreme pelvic monthly pain heavy flow and it was affecting quality of life for a long time. I knew I had fibroids. Saw Dr Lucas and he was wonderful. Thought I had to suffer because insurance would make me jump through hoops to get a hysterectomy even though past child bearing age. He said not the case with my symptoms. Had the surgery and had endometriosis that I was not aware of. We kept ovaries because they were healthy. Some doctors just take everything and put you into instant menopause for no reason. He is wonderful

I had debilitating period pain and frequent bleeding for several years, as well as other pain I didn't know the cause of. I'd gone to so many doctors for help but Dr. Lucas was the first to take the time to really figure out what was wrong and what I needed to improve my quality of life. He was able to help me with all of those problems, and I healed very quickly from minimally invasive surgery. I no longer have any of the problems I came in with. Dr. Lucas always listened to my priorities, answered my questions, and respected my bodily autonomy. I would recommend Dr. Lucas to anyone, and always felt like I could trust him with my care.

Dr. Lucas is amazing!! He has gone above and BEYOND the scope of care for me as a gynecologist. He has addressed issues that my primary care doctor did not address after bringing them to her attention. Dr. Lucas came to ME and addressed them for me by mentioning the concern (thinning hair) and offered to refer me to a endocrinologist, where a mass in my pituitary was diagnosed by MRI and a medication was prescribed to help with my problem. He also recently performed a surgery (myomyectomy) to remove a 7 MM fibroid on my uterus that was robotic-ally assisted. During the surgery he found multiple adhesion's on my large intestine from a previous surgery which helped me tremendously. He is the only doctor in the state that can perform these surgeries robotically which can decrease the recovery time and lessen the scars - most have to go to Boston for this surgery! I am beyond amazed with Dr. Lucas' abilities and his willingness to help improve my quality of life. He's amazing!!

Robotic Hysterectomy was great, recovery was horrid given the fact the Dr. refused to speak/treat following 14 day post op appt. Ended in the ER for post surgical care. $5,000 bill, multiple internal exams all for a 15 minute fix of silver nitrate on the vaginal cuff. The cauterization would of been covered under the $30,000 surgical bill but instead was charged additional $5,000. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR. Go to anyone else.

I would not recommend Dr. Lucas to anyone. He tried to convince me via telephone to have an unnecessary C-section when he was on call because in his own words "there's a blizzard going on and I'm not just a doctor, I'm a father and a husband. I'm not going to sit at the hospital and wait for you to go into active labor." Luckily the nurses at the hospital stepped in and I was able to deliver my son naturally and avoid having surgery because this "Dr." wanted to be home for dinner.
