Dr. Menon Provides Exemplary Care
Telehealth
Dr. Menon has been my primary care physician since 2008. I have always received top notch care from her. I have found her nurse PA to be competent and helpful. Her office suffers from the same support issues that seem ubiquitous for medical offices. I understand that I must be the advocate for my care and Dr. Menon has always answered my needs. I have always been able to schedule routine appointments with Dr. Menon and if/when I required, I have always been able to get an urgent appointment quickly. Further she reviews notes and labs from appointments I have with other providers and contacts me if/when she thinks it would be helpful for me to see her. Her care has cured problems that other providers misdiagnosed, and she has continually improved the health quality of my life. She communicates clearly and directly and lets me know everything I should be doing to stay healthy.

Dumped by my Doctor
I have been seeing Dr. Menon for quite a few years. Last year, the office asked if I would see the medical assistant, rather than the Dr. since it was just an annual checkup - I agreed. Recently, her office called me to schedule my annual checkup for this year, and again they asked if I would see her assistant. I said that I hadn't seen the doctor in 2 years, so I'd like to see her this time. They then told me that I could not make an appointment with her, as she has a waitlist - so the best I could do was get onto the list, with no appointment scheduled. I find this totally outrageous! I have been a loyal patient for years, and now I have to get on a waitlist to even get an appointment with her. She's clearly overbooked herself. I'm now looking for a new doctor - this is no way to treat your patients. Hopefully others will follow suit, and she'll learn.

Doctor's doctor
Dr. Menon has been my doctor for over a decade. Being a physician myself, I stay too busy to keep tabs on all my preventive check ups. Her system has really worked for me--and I truly appreciate her and her staff for their dedication and professionalism.

Highly recommend
I waited for 2 months to see Dr. Menon. She came highly recommended by my dear friend who’d been a patient for a long time. I was v impressed with Dr. Menon and her staff. She was very thorough, explained her thoughts, and had a clear plan for my health. Her staff was friendly and professional. With so many doctors turning concierge- her practice is a hidden gem.

Would no longer recommend
I used to recommend this doc to others, but recently her practice has declined. She seems very rushed and to be running through a checklist rather than listening to any patient concerns. But most recently she sent me for an invasive and costly test--she passed the order through her assistant and refused to talk about why it was needed. A subsequent doc told me it was unnecessary and questioned other aspects of the care I described. I will be looking for a new primary care provider.

I went in for one visit when looking for a new doctor after moving to Maryland. She was very thorough and offered a full blood panel, which I appreciated. But she definitely had a judgemental attitude. One example: she shamed me for having more than 1-2 alcoholic drinks per WEEK because women have weak livers and shouldn't drink. She made me feel uncomfortable and it didn't feel like a safe space.

Normally I would give Dr. Menon's office a much stronger score. Most of my visits have been very positive. Unfortunately, a few basic rules were broken during my most recent visit, leaving me hurt and disappointed. Medical professionals are not supposed to judge how seriously patients are taking their health. It is inappropriate to accuse patients of not taking their health seriously. It is hurtful to "dig in" and continue to make that accusation, even after the patient points out that this is inappropriate. My hope is that this is just one isolated incident, by just one person in Dr. Menon's office. Still, it hurts to see that a health provider supposed to be taking care of a patient is instead consumed by the idea that the patient is not taking personal health seriously. Patients go to doctor's offices to be helped, not judged. What hurt even more is that I have always been extremely kind and polite, in every visit to Dr. Menon's office. Is it too much to expect the same back?

I was considering the idea of changing my primary care doctor so this was my first visit to check her out as a replacement to my current doctor who may be retiring soon. She walked in to see me for the first time and did not even introduce herself. When I told her I occasionally take half an Ambien or a Valium to deal with my chronic pain problem, she tried to scare me by telling me that if I were involved in a car accident and had taken one of those meds within 24 hours of driving, I could be sued for millions of dollars! Yet she offered no possible alternative for dealing with my terrible pain and showed no compassion for my situation. Definitely will not go back to her!

She is thorough, grounded, and listens. I found Dr. Menon after my former doctor had repeatedly failed to communicate important information to me and he stopped returning my phone calls. She follows through and has an efficient, knowledgable and nice staff. Highly recommend.

Went in for treatment of chronic pain and a neurological condition. Dr. Menon had an impatient attitude, implied I was doctor shopping (why is that a bad thing?), walked out mid-sentence & never came back, & refused when I asked to talk to her again because I hadn't had a chance to ask questions. I've seen so many docs and never been treated like I didn't matter. She could have just said that she didn't think she was the right doctor for me. What do you gain by making a sick person feel worse???
