Very Satisfied
Just had my 6 week appointment for my L4 L5 back fusion surgery and my recovery is on track. I am so happy I had the surgery and very pleased with Dr Sung and his staff. They were always there to answer my questions and really cared.

Don’t go to anyone else
Dr. Sung is an amazing surgeon. He is personable, knowledgeable and really cares for his patients. While no one wants to have to have cervical or lumbar surgery, if you find yourself needing his level of expertise then do not waste your time and wellbeing going to any other orthopedic surgeon.

He made time for me when I showed up late and it was my own fault. Doesn't immediately opt for surgery and seeks other options and treatments first.

AGING WITH PAIN
Dr. Sung defines what one would hope to find in a medical practitioner. His thorough, conservative approach to one's problems is his utmost concern, utilizing discretion and the patient's well being as a primary goals. As I have dealt with back pain for 60 years, I have seen many health care providers, M.D.'s, D.C.'s, D.O.'s, PT's and massage therapists. Dr. Sung's approach to helping me far exceeds any practitioner I have experienced.

One of the best surgeons
Dr. Sung and his staff are wonderful. I have had back and neck pain and they listen very well to how I am feeling. They recommend alternatives to surgery and surgery when it is needed. My lumbar fusion went well and I am back to living life without pain.

Pain is gone!
I had a consultation with Dr. Sung for back, leg and butt pain. I had to get an MRI, do PT and have injections. After I completed all the steps I went back to Dr. Sung because the pain was getting worse. He discussed all my options and I decided to have the surgery- a spinal fusion on two vertebrae. Once I was up and walking after surgery I could tell immediately the ongoing pain was gone! The first 10 days after surgery was tough- but worth it to me. Thank-you Dr. Sung!

They listened, they cared!!
I went to Dr Sung for a second opinion after fracturing my spine. He and his PA Kelsie were wonderful. I didn’t feel rushed, they took their time and answered all my questions, and helped me to make the best decision for healing my back. Highly recommend Dr Sung and his team!!

My life back
Dr. Sung gave me my life back. I had scoliosis (15%) and spinal stenosis. I had spinal fusion (S1-L1) 3 months ago. I was in constant pain and walked hunched over. I had tried everything and surgery was my final option. Dr. Sung described my procedure, the efficacy of the procedure (80% success), answered all my questions and listened. The procedure went perfectly and I have been pain free since being taken to recovery. My 3 post op visits have gone well and I am healing well.(3 months of 10-12 month full recovery). The fusions are growing bone.I have followed my aftercare instructions and am moving around great. Do know, that PT is a must and recovery is easier with the PT. Your choice to do it or not. PT is NOT fun, but the benefits are worth it.I would highly recommend Dr. Sung for any spinal surgery. The offices and staff are both great.

Not enough to judge yet
I’ve seen Dr. Sung several times over the years for back damage. Based on his recommendation, I am waiting to have this major surgery for when the pain is unbearable. That’s good, but I’ll judge him after surgery.

Tremendous Surgeon!
I am having my 4th back surgery with Dr. Sung in 5 days & although I have the typical pre-surgery nerves, I completely trust Dr. Sung & his team. Dr. Sung is an amazing surgeon & my repeated back issues are due to my physiology & issues that span over 25 years. He is thorough, takes whatever time needed with me, explains everything & answers any questions my husband or I might have. Hands down he is the best spinal surgeon in the Springs.

"I saw Dr Sung for severe leg pain caused by spinal stenosis. Dr Sung was impatient and obviously in a hurry. He referred me to get an MRI and I declined a prescription for pain meds, and he commented as I left the room, “ How bad is it really”. I was speechless, as it was totally limiting my activities and life. I went to a specialist in Denver with wonderful results after that!"

Dr Sung performed my spinal surgery April 2022. It went exceptionally well, through intense PT and being very intentional it has resulted in my complete and full active lifestyle recovery. Excellent surgeon who genuinely listens and cares for his patients. Highly recommend!

Review for Dr Sung Spine surgery
My first visit went great he seemed genuinely interested and well informed of my problem and what needed to be done. We scheduled surgery. Everything went well I had problems with my blood pressure and went to rehab for two weeks. The feeling came back in my legs and feet and I was healing fine. Before the surgery I had pain in my right leg and lower back on both sides after about 10 steps the pain was unbearable and after about another 30 or 40 steps below my waist would go numb on both sides including my skin and I would have to sit down or get down on my hands and knees if there was no place to sit .Both feet and legs below my knees where numb all the time and couldn't stand for more then a few minutes at a time. After three week after surgery my legs and feet went numb again but I don't have the pain in my shooting down my leg or any problems walking or standing and the pain in my lower back is bearable. We are working on the pain in my back and numbness in my legs with therapy.

CRPS patient experience and re-experience
I was initially hesitant to having back surgery. I tried a Spinal Cord Stimulator and it worked so well that I got a permanent implant. 5 years later, the battery was not functioning properly and the pain area had spread to my other leg, so I needed another surgery to change both the battery and the palette. The team contacted me, conducted me through the hurdles of visits, authorizations, and exams to finally get me to surgery in less than 6 months. All the personnel at the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group are professionals that really care about a patient’s health. My experiences have all been positive and have made me completely change my world views; back surgery is delicate and serious, but I recommend it compared to constant use of opioids and other chemical treatments such as ketamine infusions for the treatment of Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). Why live with pain or as an addict when you could try to relieve pain with the push of a button. Try it and you will too.

A disgrace to the Medical profession
Since July 20th I reached out to Dr Sung's office to see if I could see him for consultation. Firstly, they do not answer or return calls. They had me request my medical records from previous surgery stating that the doctor has to see it before scheduling an appointment to see me. After the records were sent, they didn't call me to say they got the records. I had to call and leave several messages. I finally got an email (not a return call) a month later stating that the records were incomplete (which turned out to be false). I reached out to my previous doctor's office and they confirmed that everything requested was sent. Again I had to pursue these guys to confirm that they received the records and they never called back to confirm receipt but sent an email a day later to say they got the records and will reach out to me after Dr Sung reviews it to determine if he'll see me. Days went by and I only received a call from them after I called and sent several emails to say I was in pain
