Caring
I must be insane, because in my years of dealing with psychiatrists for myself and family, friends I found him to be a dream come true. He listened, took notes of what I said, validated my feelings, considered all options, gave me in depth guidance on what steps I can take, explained those and went out of his way to call the insurance on my behalf. I actually found these reviews as I am searching if he has a private practice in addition to his residency in St. Barnabas.

Please Beware
Dr. Robert Walters is very dishonest, fails to obtain informed consent, and examines a patient without written or verbal permission. Dr. Robert Walters lacks the insight to provide meaningful service. A danger to the public.

I have never met a more aloof, insensitive and unprofessional psychiatrist in all my years of care. He did not demonstrate any compassion or insight into my situation. He made me feel like I was a nuisance and that my needs were not important. I have never had such a negative experience with a mental health professional in my life. Seeing Dr. Walter wasn't just unhelpful, the way he handled my care was detrimental and set back my recovery.

Dr. Walters is about the most inept, uncaring, out to lunch physician I have ever dealt with. He is the on staff psychiatrist at St. Barnabas so you have no other choice of but see him if you need a psych consult. No understanding of rudimentary psych issues, no compassion and no follow through. If you need him for anything while you are at the hospital it is impossible to communicate with him or get him to come and see you. Sad.
