Clearly Biased IME Opinions
Dr. Waldrop was assigned as the Independent Medical Examiner for my husband’s workers’ compensation case through Sedgwick. I wish I could say our experience felt fair or compassionate, but it was quite the opposite. My husband has a serious spinal injury that has deeply affected every part of our lives—physically, emotionally, and financially. Despite all the medical records and his daily struggle with pain, Dr. Waldrop concluded after a brief evaluation that he was fine to return to work. That opinion led to his case being closed and delayed the treatment he desperately needed. It felt like my husband wasn’t seen as a person, just a claim number to check off. His health, our stress, and our financial stability were all impacted by a decision that didn’t reflect reality. We’ve since had to fight to have his case reopened, and now—thankfully—he’s finally scheduled for surgery. But we never should have had to go through this much just to get the care he needed.

Bravo- healthcare done right, & not a lame slogan!
Dr Waldrop is an amazing spine-back doc who doesn’t rush to surgical solutions. He takes time to HEAR & see a patient. He requests, collects, and reviews all data in colab w top pain specialists and his own highly trained staff. He carefully develops treatment plan WITH patient to treat SOURCE of issues, not just band-aiding symptoms. Amazing PA in Matt Duske. Both pros are really what our healthcare should look like - smart, kind, empathetic, respectful, without sugar-coating or bending to latest trends. I don’t like kitchy slogans, but will say that this office truly provides solid healthcare, done right! W a family of 5 and several very serious illnesses and injuries over recent yrs, we’ve seen well over 100 docs - these guys are easily in top 5%! Bravo!!

Most impressed with generous counsultion.
At my first appointment, Dr Waldrop took a generous amount of time to explain why my sciatic pain reoccured 2 years after a L4/L5 vertebrae fusion. After about 45 minutes he convinced me why I should not have additional surgery at this time. I am so thankful that I did not follow the advice of a prominent neurosurgeon.

The Absolute Best
Dr. Waldrop and Dr. Rappoport recently performed a miraculous surgery. A prior surgeon had placed a catheter improperly within the spinal canal which applied pressure on the spinal cord. The result was that I would collapse frequently with both my legs given way. The loss all sensation in the legs was eventually follow up by the the hamstrings drawing so tight that I could not stand. The tight hamstrings on a scale of 1 to 10 were at 11. At that stage I was hauled to the hospital. Due to the fact that I have bone cancer Dr. Waldrop (also an oncology) was called upon to lead the surgery. The spinal canal was opened and the pressure on the spinal cord relieved. I am now able bodied and exercising those muscles weakened due to the improper catheter placement. In addition to the high level of skill Dr. Waldrop has the courtly nature of a fellow born in the south. A fine surgeon and a very fine man. You may contact me with any questions at my e-mail. I am so pleased that I chose Dr. Waldrop and his PA Duske for my recent spine surgery. The whole experience was very professional and the results have been outstanding. I was in severe pain prior to the very delicate surgery and afterwards I am pain free and living my life again. I cannot say enough about the expertise of these two professionals and hope that they continue to provide help to many more patients in the future.

I waited two weeks for an apt. I drove 45 minutes to my apt. When I arrived the person at the front desk (first words) he is running late. I asked if I needed to check in. Carefree she said did you do your new patient paperwork. I said no, and she handed it to me. After 20 minutes of filling it out, I returned it to her. She said your cancelled he is still in surgery! She said your going to have to reschedule! She do you want to reschedule? I thought to myself really! Of course I said yes. Ok your looking at February. So I rescheduled. The man next to me said to her I just flew here to see him. She replied I don’t know what to tell you! As if it’s not my problem. Today I got a call from someone in his office telling me he could review my records and then give me a call instead of my apt. The. She tells me they could not read or down load the disk I gave to them yesterday. She asked me to go get another one. Or it would take longer for him to follow up.

He listens to what you have to say. He explains things in layman's terms. I am grateful for what he has done with my back through the surgery, but he never pushed it. He had me try noninvasive procedures first.

Dr. Waldrop saved my husband's life and our marriage. There is something different about this doctor. He would probably call it his "slow southern way." To me it felt like a confidence in his knowledge and abilities. It felt like he wasn't concerned about his "success rate" like other doctors. I knew in my heart that if he just opened up my husband’s back that he would see what was wrong and be able to fix it. He did! Here we are 6 weeks after surgery and he is not on any pain killers, no numbness and burning in his legs, no back pain, he is out of bed, he is starting to be able to exercise, and his spirits are up. After his previous back surgery failed, Michael had given up on everything. He had attempted suicide using fentanyl several times. The pain induced depression was so bad that he didn't get out of bed. Our 18 year marriage was on the rocks to say the least. Thank you, Dr. Waldrop! Sincerely. You did so much more for us than the pain relieving surgery.

I don't need surgery as far as I know and Dr. Waldrop was amazing, took so much time going over my MRI with me & also spent time going over what treatment I needed to have done. He totally understood I do NOT put medication in my body as I don't want my Kidneys & Liver to have problems filtering crap. So he was very careful in what he did for my pain. He also referred me to Dr. Omar Syed on 6320 West Union Hills which is a great pain Mgmt doctor as he loves to help people and NOT by getting them hooked & addicted to drugs. Dr. Waldrop & Dr. Syed are two great doctors that really care about others.
