Fantastic Doctor
Dr. Slater is very professional and to the point. He is very knowledgeable and his staff is great as well. The only reason why I am leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the billing company he chose to work with. God! They are so difficult to get a hold of. I cannot for the life of me get anyone on the phone.

Great Experience with a Good doctor and Staff.
I liked him right off. He was right to the point and I could see he was intelligent and professional. My son has a wrist tear injury from a slip and fall at work. My son is deaf and Dr. Slater was patient and kind with him plus giving me ample time to interpret for my son. His plan to fix my son's wrist was right on target and I have no doubt he will do a very good repair. My son and I both felt comfortable and relieved that his outcome with surgery will be a positive one. I give him 4 stars and would give him 5 if he lived in Redding(though not his fault) as we have to drive 2 1/2 hrs to see him but we feel it is worth it now. We also liked his office staff and they even gave us driving directions for our return home . Thank you Dr. Slater and we look forward to your professional help. John Arkeder and his Mom Janice.

Hand Surgery (trapeziectomy) RH - year later LH
Trust your hands to Dr. Slater! Both of my hands got to the point of non-functioning. I play guitar so when my left hand stopped working it was devastating. VERY happy to report that my guitar hand is better than ever after recovery. When my RH started failing I went back to Dr. Slater and and now almost over recover. I read some of the previous reviews and understand some have different options, but I would not trust my hands to any other Dr.

Not personable enough for me
He is an emotional and condescending. Doesn’t really look you in the eye questions or concerns as we just don’t know any better and how to ask a question. Simple question I asked about recovery - if i did surgery-went to into a robotic answer. “ it depends on what you mean. You can walk the next day you can brush teeth two days later. Then do your soort 6 weeks later” I’m asking when I can get back to my activity. I’m sure he is highly educated and is extremely intelligent in his field. I am moving on to another doctor

AMAZING! When first explained the procedure (trapeziectomy) thought it sounded like elective back surgery… After a year and worsening pain, opted for the “fix” to elevate the problem. Very happy I did! Pain is gone from joint and feels better every day. Scars are almost nonexistent. A truly skilled surgeon who is a straight shooter! Forever grateful less than 4 months post op!

several trigger finger surgeries, carpel tunnel surgeries on both hands, cyst removed over the years. Very pleased with each surgery, What do you expect not all surgeons are wonderful personalities. What I expect is a positive outcome.

no question he is an expert in his field. Varying personalities are a part of human nature regardless of the other comments I've read. Had two surgeries with this doctor and don't hesitate to refer anyone I know or meet to him.

Dr Slater is probably an excellent doctor, however, he was not wearing a mask, and made me remove mine. He obviously has not read the papers and heard about covid-19. His bedside manner was that of a doctor 30 or 40 years ago. Doctors have warmed up considerably since then.

My word! This man appeared to be the most bored, miserable, disinterested human being ever! One meeting with this guy and I could not wait to get out of there. He used a banged -up, over-used magazine picture to show me what was wrong with my hand. So unprofessional. He seemed like the kind of person who would be comfortable working out of the trunk of his car. He will never touch me with a scalpel. Run don’t walk away from him.

Dr Slater performed an Ulnar nerve transposition on my left elbow in September, and I have been extremely pleased with the results. Before coming to see Dr Slater, I had been through a lot of tests to diagnose my problem, and he suggested the best course of action. Everything has turned out just fine, thanks to his expert handling. He has been very kind with great "bedside" manners, and I recommend him highly.

I saw Dr. Slater in follow-up after I'd been diagnosed with a fractured elbow at an urgent care clinic and placed in an uncomfortable splint. He looked at the x-rays they took at Urgent Care, examined me, and questioned me thoroughly, then placed my arm under a flouroscope and watched the bones as he had me move my arm. He assured me that I did not have a fracture and explained the injury. His office made accommodations to fit me in so I wouldn't be splinted any longer than is safe, something other offices weren't willing to do. While he does have a dry chairside manner and one wonders if he doesn't like his work, I was completely satisfied with the visit even though I drove over an hour to see him. On top of that, his office staff is superb; very pleasant and accommodating. I would definitely drive an hour to see him again if needed, though I ended up canceling the follow-up because my arm is doing quite well.

Dr. Slater did surgery on two issues on my hand. He steadfastly advocated for me to my insurance company despite ridiculous obstacles. My surgeries were spectacular. He never gave up on giving me the most advantages outcome. Is he warm and friendly- lol, not really, but if you follow his instructions you will get a fabulous result. . .

I was in acute pain in my shoulder Dr. Slater spent more than ample time with me to explain, treat and diagnosis my injury and made my course of treatment clear and did so with an amazing sense of humor! I was in tears prior to arrival the pain was over the top but Dr. Slater and his humor made it bearable. I am not an easy patient I ask a tremendous amount of questions and am skeptical of doctors but he gets the A++. Thank you Dr. Slater.

Awful experience. This doctor is clearly not interested in treating anyone who doesn't require surgery. Not only did he rush through a very cursory examination, he didn't ask any questions and misdiagnosed me as having a sprain. I have since see another Orthopedic Surgeon who identified the broken bone and set my hand in a cast. To add insult to injury I paid a $55 copay for this poor treatment. His bedside manner is simply appalling. Very, very disappointing. Don't use him for anything.

There are plenty of good orthopedists in the Sacramento area. Don't waste your time with this one. Rude, doesn't seem to care, and has an ego that is out of control. Went to another Dr. and was very happy with that overall experience.

I have been to Dr Slater twice. The first time was to correct what another surgeon had created. He answered all of my questions and concerns. When I went back for the 2nd time was just as helpful addressing the problem and his staff was outstanding.

I was looking forward to this visit to give me the explaination of my injury and direction of what was needed for my shoulder seperation injury. His bedside manners was terrible. I wanted and needed some answers but he didn't listen or even tried to explain my injury and how to deal with such an injury. I left his office completely dissatified with the treatment and the lack of answers. I felt it was a waste of time and money.
