I am a former patient of Dr. Narvaiz. I worked with him as an adolescent and into my late teens, sometime in the mid to late 2000s. I saw him for ADHD and general mood disorder help. He was a great doctor — until I experienced a s*xual assault. He took my understandable confusion towards the event as a sign that I, in so many words, wanted it, and it was "normal" for girls to have cold feet and cry r*pe or something to that effect. The actual verbiage escapes me, but the effects of the conversation lived on in my mind. I hope in the last 15 years that he has taken a course on trauma sensitivity/informed care as well as how to handle female clients, especially young ones, without minimizing them and further adding to the traumatic situations. That was unacceptable. I was misdiagnosed as BPD when I really had Complex PTSD, which I am now, 15 years later, receiving help for elsewhere — NOT here.

Completely rude and uneducated. My doctor sent me here because I could get an appointment quickly and who he normally refers to was out of network with my insurance plan. He was so rude, not at all easy to talk to and proceeded to berate and cursing at my doctors office for sending me to him. Go anywhere else.

I disagree. I had gone to Dr Narvaiz out of desperation of my self. He and his staff have been MORE than helpful. When a insurance switch by myself put my medication into the seven hundred monthly range, he and his staff worked with me to bring the cost back down to 15.00- true he does not coddle but I find his conversion witty and he is old school. So am I . Guess it all depends, are you looking to diagnose yourself or are you looking for a Dr who will treat you. Just my two cents

Dr. Narvaiz was recommended to me because my depression had become especially severe and I needed an appointment with a psychiatrist asap. My one positive about him is that it was easy to get an appointment with him and scheduling appointments was always easy. However, he misdiagnosed me as bipolar and treated me accordingly. He did not like when I disagreed with him and didn't take his word as gold. I finally gave up with him, went to a GP and went back to my normal depression treatment.

He has to be one of the worst Psychiatrists ever. Is so busy telling us how smart he is that he doesn't take the time to listen to the patient. I gave him a 5 for explaining medical conditions because he repeats and repeats and repeats and then asks if you understand and then repeats again! I put up with him as long as I could, but no more! I found a new doc, who is very professional and actually is interested in me getting well rather than her ego.

I've seen this doctor over 2 years. He has gotten more and more irritating, rude, insensitive and difficult to work with. I don't have to take this abuse! I am looking for a new doctor.

The most awful experience ever. Scary to think he can write an Rx. He is more concerned about billing and will spend the whole time arguing about being paid. Good luck, he sucks.

If I could give this man zero stars, I would. My son has dealt with ADHD for five years. In that time, we have seen several therapists, and never in my life have I felt as awful as I did today leaving Dr. Naraiz's office. He was pushy, arrogant, degrading, and unhelpful. He terrified my son who felt intimidated and scared. He broke down in the car afterward and begged me to never take him to see "that man" again. I have been as vigilant as a parent can be to help get my son care and Dr. N

Dr. Narvaiz treated me for about 5 years. I am sure that if I was with anybody else, I wouldn't be alive today. I suffer from severe PTSD and medications that Dr. Narvaiz managed to recommend and prescribed are saving my life, even today. He took me in without an appointment on few occasions, knowing how serious my condition was, I trust him more than any emergency or any other doctor. Be honest with him, don't omit anything that you have problem with, and he is absolutely going to help you.

Dr. Narvaiz is well educated on certain levels with interesting stories to give through life experiences, but 50/50 as a psychiatrist. He's very direct, boldly honest in his opinions and diagnoses, which I appreciate. He talks too long, often interrupts a patient when they're trying answer his questions. I've gone to him twice and have yet to speak a full answer to any question asked. He does cross diagnose to an overkill. He's a good person, just needs to work on his listening skills.

Dr Narvaiz is what I consider old school. He tells you the way it is . He doesn't candy coat it. I believe in this line of work there are Dr. prescribing meds that they really don't understand the side effects. Dr Narvais has the experience to sift all that out . But you need to take the meds as prescribed and be honest with him of the results .I have recommended patients too him. As fair as waiting room times, if you're kept waiting its a necessary inconvenience,to assist others.

He's a hardass and that's why I think people don't like him. Sometimes he's going to tell you things you may not want to hear, but it's in your best interest and your health. Also, I think people go in expecting Adderall, and other drugs and he's not going to do that until he knows who you are (it took 2 years before he finally put me on it). Overall, he's a great Dr. and has significantly made my life better through his treatment.

Doctor spent about 1.5hrs keeping me waiting and 20 minutes talking to me. Decided I had a serious untreated mood disorder and offered me 2 heavy medications for bipolar disorder. Completely contradicting the 14 years of psychiatric care I've previously had, I went in to taper down my anti-depressant dosage. Also went on a tangent about his belief that therapists create problems and often plant false memories of sexual assault in patients minds. Was pretty inappropriate and creepy.
