I have gone to Dr. Maurer numerous times with arthritis issues in my hands. He has always explained everything and I have never had any post op issues. I will continue to see Dr. Maurer.

Don't let him operate
Dr Maurer did not communicate well with me at all. The surgery made my problem worse. Much worse. There was NO follow up after the surgery. And he talked his way out of my request for post op help about the bungled surgery. He even had a scribe in the exam room with us writing down every word he said.

A surgeon other surgeons go to. In 2009 I was referred to Dr Maurer by Steven Powers, a well known Nurosurgeon. Dr Maurer had operated on Dr Powers' son. I had severe pain in my left wrist. Another surgeon wanted to completely fuse it. Would have meant no motion at all forever. Dr Maurer did a procedure that allowed me to retain 60 percent wrist motion. Been 13 years with zero pain. Thanks Bob!

Serious issues. I had a wrist ligament repaired only to have visible signs of infections 2 weeks later. Dr. Maurer missed these signs and didn't treat the infection until 2 weeks later when I went to the hospital. Then, he never got all the infection which eventually ended up in my bones and joint-maybe because I was the last surgery and he was to tired to use due diligence. I went to another doctor and had to have a 3rd surgery and a PICC line for 6 months to treat the infection. What a scary and horrible experience.

Dr Mauer is very knowledgable in orthopedics. He is very thorough with everything he does. People asked me "why did you see him to do your shoulder surgery?" (He specializes in hands.) My reply spoke of how wonderful, caring and compassionate Dr. Mauer is. Patients often complain about having to wait for their appointment, an hour after their scheduled time. As frustrating as it may be, there is good reasoning behind those sometimes lengthy wait times. Dr. Mauer attends to each one of his patients with compassion and concern. He is very thorough in explaining your injury as well as discussing all treatment options available to you. With each patient he takes his time making sure to address any questions or concerns they may have. So what if your waiting an extra 30 or 40 minutes!?!?! Bring a book, play a game while your waiting. I promise Dr. Mauer will not fall short of anything more than exceptional! He is definitely worth the wait!

Another surgeon referred me to Dr. Maurer for my problem. He said Dr. Maurer was the best hand surgeon in this area. His staff at the surgery center was awesome and kept me from being too nervous. The staff at both offices were very helpful as well.I am still healing and am looking forward to a positive result at the end of this recuperative time. Thank you, Dr. Maurer.

Front office staff dismissive and rude. Dr. spent only 5 minutes with me. After visit, learned of 2 other patients left with poor results leading to several more surgeries. My confidence level was nonexistent and anxiety level extreme, which led me to schedule my procedure with a different physician. The surgery scheduler was, however, very professional.

Work Injury in 2010, did nothing for 3 years except steroid injections, after being released from workmans comp because I was so called fully recovered. Dr Mauer did a scope to see what was going on and surgery ended up being 2 hrs due to torn ligaments and bone reconstruction, which should have been done within those 3 years but wasnt. Now my hand has major arthritis and extreme pain and discomfort. Had to go to another hand dr and now in 2019 , nothing really can be done

Dr.maurer after first appt. Consult we agreed on surgical wrist treatment which was the beginning of a total of 5 surgeries in a 3 year period with worsening outcomes in each surgery which led me to 5 more interventions elsewhere to repair the damage he didwhich left me disabled due to fused wrist and arthrplasty of druj.

Dr. Maurer fixed my wrist when other Dr's were telling me my pain was all in my head. Torn ligaments and synovitis. He also took care of my broken shoulder. I think he is a fantastic doctor. The patient needs to ask questions and be proactive in their medical care.

Always at least 30-45 minutes wait after appointment time. Sometimes an hour or more. Will use another surgeon if needed in the future.

Dr. Maurer doesn't seem to care much about patient concerns. He is rather quiet and doesn't talk about or explain things. Trying to get an answer out of him is like pulling teeth. As for his medical abilities, he did not perform the planned surgical fusion procedure on my wrist (which required reconstruction, due to a bad break). Instead, he convinced my husband (since I was already anesthetized) that he could fix my wrist without doing the fusion. My wrist is now deformed and very painful.
