Dr. Robert Matyas, DO

Great doctor. He listens to me. We discuss treatment. He explains things to me. We approach my health as a team. Very knowledgeable, caring and friendly.

I have found Dr. Robert Matyas II to be antagonistic to my health care and devoid of empathy to the point of being sadistic. I've learned a lot about my C-PTSD and responses to trauma: fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. Freeze has been my chosen response and I found Dr. Matyas to be polite but sadistic in his intensions, specifically, fat phobic. I have yet to figure out exactly how I would resolve the larger issue of having somebody who is hostile to patients under KP's care. But it has taken me a full 13 months to be called to action due to my "freeze response" from an incident in August 2021 that was emblematic of his antagonism. In 2021, I had a video appointment with him to renew a Xanax prescription. He cleared all his appointments for that day and I ended up going through BAD Xanax withdrawal that had a domino effect on other behavior. After he cleared his appointments on that day in 2021, he was removed from my physicians' list and I was randomly assigned to another docto

Dr. Matyas has always paid close attention to my concerns and made sure he had all the facts and tests needed to make the necessary recommendations for my well being. He's very attentive and caring.

Dr Matyas is an intelligent caring doctor. He listens to you and answers your questions in a very respectful manner.

As a new member to Kaiser, a colleague suggested asking for a LGBT friendly doctor. I hadnt visited a doctor in a few years. I met up for the first with the doctor and I felt so much trust and professionalism from the minute he walked through the door. Kaiser has done a great job at bringing this amazing doctor on board. Dr. Matyas is the best physician I've ever had. I started visiting when I asked Kaiser to connect with a LGBT doctor that was knowledgable about the men's health issues that are important for gay men. I feel lucky to be under his care.
