Odd duck
In my opinion, the anesthesiologist who comes to chat before surgery can really set the tone. Dr. Leffert was fairly arrogant (that’s okay; I want my doctor to be confident). I had never had a nerve block before and asked if it would hurt. Answer: “I don’t know; you’ll have to tell me.” Ugh. That was annoying. Thankfully, the nurse told me it was uncomfortable, but I’d do fine. I’m a middle-aged adult; that honesty from her was perfectly phrased and assuring. Except…the nerve block never worked. I got through the surgery, but it wasn’t pleasant. Dr. Leffert said “it’s your anatomy’s fault.” He just came across to me as an odd duck, and he wasn’t even in the surgery; a crna took good care of me there. So, yes, Dr. Leffert, it did hurt. But I survived. Wouldn’t want to do again.
