Dr. Robert Kim, MD

Dr Kim is the best doctor ever!!!! He is very professional; makes you feel comfortable and at ese. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 4. Dr Kim performed very extensive surgery and went very well. I am recovering now and feel good, thanks to Dr Kim.

Referred to Dr. Kim after a large cyst was noted on CT of abdomen, which later resulted in major surgery to remove the large cyst (and other reproductive organs). Dr. Kim is very knowledgeable, courteous, thoughtful, and thoroughly explained the plan of care (labs, radiology, surgery, post-op care and expectations). Because of Covid, from time of diagnosis to surgery date was about 3-4 weeks. I feel because he “has skillful hands”, I had minimal post-op pain and complications. I was discharged after three days post-op (uneventful surgery) and six month and year follow-up visits were also uneventful. I am so thankful Dr. Kim is the surgeon who took care of my problem.

One of the smartest and most caring doctors I have ever met. Where most doctors just write you an RX and walk out the door Dr Kim took the time to review all my options when I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. He keeps up with all the latest research and shared everything currently known about various treatments: I opted to have a hysterectomy. He was the ONLY doc I met with on O’ahu who didn’t INSIST I have everything (uterus, cervix, ovaries, lymph nodes etc) removed if not necessary. Thank god because as it turned out they found no cancer at the time he did do the surgery. I was able to keep my ovaries and avoid going into medical menopause: He did a super job with the surgery. I was up and around within days of the procedure. My only complaint was that Queens would not allow me to stay overnight after the surgery. Forced me out using a catheter because I couldn’t pee yet, causing a UTI. But Kim is the best. Treats women with respect. It’s your body. Choose what feels right

I am so thankful that Dr. Robert Kim (Gynecological Oncologist) comes to Hilo, Hawaii (at the University Health Partners of Hawaii - Women's Health Specialists, 82 Puuhonu Pl, Suite 205, office), once a month, where I was referred to and seen by him initially and for follow-up visits. He is a very kind, mild and understanding doctor, patiently assessed my situation and needs, and explained things to myself and my husband (he welcomed my husband being there and asking questions too). He doesn't have much facial expression, but by his demeanor, we can feel that he is a very caring man; we are very comfortable with him. My hysterectomy was done by Dr. Kim by Robot-Assisted Laparoscopically at the Queen's Medical Center (a great hospital; had good experiences there). Post surgery, I couldn't believe it, but was happy, that I didn't have much pain. I am so glad I was referred to Dr. Kim with his expertise. He's a great Doctor! Diane H. 01/18/2020
