Dr. Juer was my PCP for about seven years, but that will be changing immediately. For well over a year, I have been seeing a specialist for a cluster of lumps in one of my breasts. I ensured to keep Dr. Juer informed of my visits with the specialist, as I am desperate to learn if the lumps were cancerous. During my last appointment with the specialist, I decided that it was time to get a second opinion. I located another specialist who was willing to see me for the second opinion, but stated that I needed a referral. Naturally, I thought this wouldn't be a problem at all. I called Dr. Juer's office and explained the situation. The person that I spoke to initially was very pleasant. She took all of the needed information, and stated that they would get the referral sent over. Well, I received a call today from a very rude woman from Dr. Juer's office, who told me that Dr. Juer refused to send the referral. She basically told me that I need to just accept what the first specialist told me. I asked, verbatim, "Are you telling me that Dr. Juer will not allow me to get a second opinion". Her response, verbatim, was, "well, yes". I was too shocked to say anything more. This is a medical provider, who I am supposed to trust... my medical provider for at least seven years, and who is well aware that I have spent the last year+ completely unsure if I have cancer or not. I was speechless. Thankfully, primary care doctors are bountiful in this area. After that phone call, I spent a few hours researching new PCPs. Dr. Juer is heartless and careless. He should not be at the helm of other people's medical care and he can cause harm to someone who blindly trusts him.
