Honest review
I have been seeing Dr johansen since about 2016. My first interaction with him was after my knee fractured repair done I went to see him due to continued grinding pain, he did arthroscopic surgery on it his comment to me was “I didn’t think so, but you need your knee replaced” since then I have seen him for my hips, shoulders as well as my knee!!! His office staff is friendly and efficient rarely have I had a problem.Although I may not have seen him right after surgery I saw his Surgical NP. I truly believe in him and would recommend anyone to him. As I once told a pt even the best has a bad day. When they wanted a second recommendation.

Don't go
Terribile, took my mom for a hip surgery, he never checked on her again. The next day he allowed another doctor to perform unneeded surgeries without consent. I miss her everyday.

Very happy
I’m the 4th family member to get help from Dr. Johansen. I’m loyal because he’s an excellent surgeon. He is a great communicator, listens well, and doesn’t rush through the visit. I don’t have to go through a voicemail and hit buttons just to speak to his office. The staff is kind, professional, and eager to help.

Very very likely!! He saved my life in 2011!!
Dr Johansen was the only surgeon out of 13 on the coast willing to do my surgeries on my knees.. I had no insurance at the time being self employed. He accepted what vocation rehab paid him for not one but 3 surgeries! I had blood issues and antibiotics just flushed through my body burning my veins. His staff also got the pharmacy to foot the bill for my very expensive antibiotics until I qualified for assistance. He and (NP J ) at that time, had to perform 3 surgeries on my knees within 30 days inorder to save my life. I had emergency bilateral total knee placements in 24hrs that saved my life with the Angels that God sent to me!! I would have died within 2 years from total body joint disease and possibly in just a year due to my severe depression caused by my condition. These guys and at that time a wonderful staff saved my life. I was 52 at the time and now 65. Because of these wonderful surgeons and staff, I am alive. I thank God every day for them and giving me my life back.!!

Chicken sh*t coward
This man is a weasel. Do not for a minute think that he cares about you or anybody else but himself. There are many other surgeons on the coast that are much better equipped than this coward.

The worst experience.
Never meant the doctor. I went to to clinic multiple time and not once did he come talk to me about my surgery. My only communication was with the his nurse. There was always an excuse why he couldn’t make to my appointment. It was just a bad experience. Don’t recommend him at all. If you want to have a relationship with him good luck.

Great Surgeon, Iffy staff
I've had 3 knee replacements on my left knee. I was operated on by 1 bafoon, 1 fool and 1 surgeon. The surgeon was Dr Johanson. His staff ranges from "prick", haughty know it all, to nice and helpful

Procedures
Dr. Johansen has done work on my shoulder and my knee. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. There is a long wait in his office that is annoying but worth it to see him. He is a very pleasant man and can be quite funny.

Dr. Johansson operated three times in six months for separate surgeries to my arm when I fell. I was very happy and satisfied with all three surgeries. Actually I am more than pleased and feel very blessed that all three surgeries were such A success. The staff was wonderful as well and I was treated so kindly.

Dr. Johansson overbooks appointments with multiple people. My appointment was for 10 am. After hearing that there were four people ahead of me with the same appointment time, I grew very concerned about this office’s patient scheduling practices. While I was filling out the paperwork for my initial visit, there were three waiting patients that approached the window with appoints at 8 and 9 am voicing their frustrations about the wait. I finished my paperwork at about 10:20 and asked the receptionist if this is a common practice for the office to over book and she said this is very unusual. While I was waiting, an elderly couple entered the office and approached the window for an 11 am. The receptionist stated that their copay was 40 dollars. The patient stated that she was here the other day waited over 4 hours and never saw the Dr. the receptionist said oh yeah, you are good. Needless to say, I asked for my sign up paperwork and departed the office. Total liars and BS!

I'm a retired navy Seabee. I was sent to this clinic for a bone on bone and rotator cuff surgery. I have never been so disrespected in my life, Staff is extremely rude , disrespectful, child like tantrums and extremely unprofessional. If you the patient has an issue with the staff they will not treat you they will tell you to leave, the patient is wrong and the staff is right mentality. The patient pays for their the staffs attitude. Never will I recommend the Dr. Or this office and Jay the np is a spinless idiot.

While I've never been a patient of Dr. Johansen, nevertheless, my daughter (Stephanie Bowin), my son-in-law (John Bowin, whom Dr. Johansen operated on twice), my daughter's father (Ronald Rushing), and my son-in-law's father (Michael Bowin) all underwent surgery by him, and every one of them were entirely pleased with their outcomes! Having been around all of them off and on, never once did they ever have any complaints. The only complaint that my daughter had was not of Dr. Johansen, but Dr. Johansen's nurse practitioner, whom she told me more than once was "very arrogant." She also called him an unflattering name that I cannot state here. As a result of the successful results of each of the aforementioned patients of Dr. Johansen, if I, myself, were to ever have to undergo orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Johansen would have me added to his list of patients, hands down! Dr. Johansen is no average surgeon. He is a brilliant, very professional, and highly-qualified orthopaedic surgeon.

I had both knee (meniscus) and shoulder (rotator cuff) surgery and have continued problems after both. When I have tried to discuss my concerns they are brushed aside and the topic turns to what other pain I might have. I feel like they want to just find another reason to operate on me. I only saw the surgeon one time and saw the PA the other times. He is very talkative and friendly, mostly about himself and not me the patient. And he disregarded my concerns and did not address them at all. The wait times are unreasonable, often more than 2 or 3 hours with no explanation or concern for their patients.

My 85 yr old mother broke her finger and was seen at the ER. The ER wrapped her finger and arm up in a splint and told us to make an appt.with Dr. Johansen. I called the doctor's office and spoke with a very rude receptionist and was told the nurse would get back with me about an appt. I waited for over a week for a call from the nurse and did not receive one. I called back. The rude receptionist answered again, but this time I made her listen to me. I told her my mother is 85 years old and she has a splint up to her elbow because of a broken finger and that I needed to know how to care for her. She then got my mom's chart and said that the NP had reviewed the her ER chart and said we could come as needed. I then ask her well can I unwrap her finger and arm. She put me on hold went back to ask the nurse. She came back and ask did I want a morning or afternoon appt. So I ask why do they want to see her now. She said when the NP first reviewed the ER note she did not see the xray

Been a patient of Dr. Johnasen about 3 years. And I ad 3 knee surgeries. When I arrived mid July 2018 for an appointment. Arrived 20 mins early for my appointment. Upon arrival my appointment was canceled for no reason. Said Dr johnasen had an emergency which was a lie I seen him from window in hallway and was discharged for no reason. This doctor should be fired for medical malpractice for screwing my knee up after 6 months since surgery. Still have bruising and internal bleeding of the knee.

My husband needed a total hip replacement. Dr Johansen met with us, answered all our questions and helped expedite the surgery date. We were sceptical originally after reading some of these reviews. But, after meeting Dr Johansen, there was no need for concern. My husband had the surgery, no problems. After surgery Dr Johansen called me to assure all went well. The next day he visited and answered all our questions. I would recommend him to anyone who needs orthopedic surgery!

Getting in initially to see Dr. Johansen was quick and easy. And discussing surgery and getting it scheduled didn't take long either. But the aftercare I received by his office was sub pare. Every time I went in for my follow-ups and voiced my concerns. Even after adequate healing time I voiced my concerns with still being in pain and was ignored. Then almost 7 months after my surgery I"m told of an issue that was found during my surgery. And now need another surgery.
