Unpleasant plus waiting. No good.
The office staff is generally unpleasant. There is always a wait and a huge wait at that. They have zero consideration for your time. And this is something they are totally aware of. They told me “if you don’t want to wait over an hour, you need to be the first appointment or the first appointment after lunch.” So they know very well what they are doing. So after nearly 2 hours in the waiting room at my last visit, I told them quite kindly I could no longer wait and had to get back to work. They were not happy that I had to go. Also I was there for a recheck after a procedure which left marks on my face. Thankfully gone now but when I called to discuss to see if that was normal, the doctor would not get on the phone and I got totally mixed messages from the staff. Basically I was told I had to wait several months until my appointment . Then I arrived and waited 2 hours and never saw him. And I never will. Terrible experience all around. You are not the only game on town folks.

Never in my life waited this long
This has been the worst doctors experience I’ve ever had I’m currently waiting 2 plus hours to see a doctor that took 3 months of waiting to get an apt. My son is autistic and this process has been beyond painful

My Favorite Doctor
Dr. Hartman is the best doctor. He does the running a little late but he’s worth it. He spends quality time with his patience and wants to get to the bottom of the root cause I found him years ago after going to 15 other dermatologist. He is brilliant!

Doctor Hartman is the Best Dermatologist!
Doctor Hartman is the best dermatologist ever. He treated my Grandfather’s skin concerns many years ago, and treated my skin many times as well. We love Doctor Hartman. He’s the nicest most knowledgeable doctor I have ever met. Doctor Hartman genuinely cares, and has always resolved my skin concerns. I have not seen Doctor Hartman in many years, but would not go to any other dermatologist. I’m so happy Doctor Hartman is still in practice. I am going to make an appointment for my Husband, and I hopefully very soon. We are having some skin problems, and I immediately thought of Doctor Hartman. I hope we can get in for an appointment in the near future. Thank you for always helping my Family and I Doctor Hartman. We look forward to our appointment with you.

Great MD
I've been a satisfied patient of Dr. Hartman for a couple of decades. He is very careful and methodical in his examinations and explains everything he sees or does. A very intelligent MD skilled in communication, his many years of experience allow him to spot problems, and dismiss what may look like a problem, with a high degree of confidence.

Excellent experience with this Dermatologist!!!
This doctor covers all the bases, explains in detail what the situation is, has patience in a big way answering questions and explaining what the best remedy would be and has a quality staff that goes out of their way to help all patients! Kudos to this office in a very professional and caring way! He is also located in the heart of Encino, very close to the 101 freeway! ALL IN ALL Dr Robert Hartman is a excellent choice for Dermatology and does a very thorough job totally.

My son has been a patient of Dr, Hartman - and was sent back to see him by our GP to address a growth - perhaps a wart. We took our son out of school (because if you want an appointment after 3pm, you need to schedule several months in advance) and when we arrived found our his insurance had lapsed and we had not received new cards yet (due to a parent changing jobs). So i said i would simply pay out of pocket. NO!! Not allowed. Dr, Hartman will NOT accept payment from you. ONLY from PPO insurance. SO...they refused to see my son. And sent us away. Offered to reschedule 2 months out. And we had waited 2 months for this appointment. I called another Dermatologist - and we are seeing her in a few days. SHAME on you Dr. Hartman. It would have been so simple to serve your patients quality care - but you chose to play a money game - and perpetuate the scam that is American Healthcare.

Dr. Hartman is the best of the best!! He is always right, and he always knows what to do - even when other physicians don't. On several occasions, other physicians have mistakenly diagnosed something - and they would be wrong. Dr. Hartman would always know what to do - he has treated my husband (a physician), myself and my 2 children and many of our friends. He is truly amazing!! Be prepared to wait a little - bring a book or work- he will solve whatever problems you have!!

He does not spend time throughly examing his young patients. I brought my 23 month old son with red dots on his face. If he had checked his temperature , looked in his mouth, or anywhere on his body - he would have uncovered hand , mouth, foot disease which he got of course from daycare. But no with his quick diagnosis of eczema - he sent us on our way. We were sent out of daycare right after for this disease which is contagious.

Dr. Hartman is a fantastic physician. However, his staff is a huge problem. I have been a patient to for many years and have suffered through a change of staff, all of whom have been impossible. They NEVER return phone messages. The phone is rarely answered; and even when the doctor has promised someone will get back, they never do. I remain as a patient only because of the doctor. It is virtually impossible to make a follow up appointment after you leave the office so do it before leaving.

The staff is unapologetically rude. They do not return calls from patients. Not worth it. NO doctor is THAT good to have to leave endless messages with his rude staff. When you bring up their rudeness, they just say, We're busy, as if that is an excuse for rudeness and refusing to return calls for weeks.

Dr.Hartman is very knowledgeable, listens and gives good advice;but, unfortanately, his front desk staff can be a real problem. They aren't patient-oriented or very helpful and can even be downright rude. They could use a course in public relations training as doctors are often judged by the behavior of their office staff. So a word of caution to the wise.
