Dr. Robert Grindell, MD

My kid needed sports clearance in August '23. Dr. Grindell didn't approve the waiver because of a summer injury, which was understandable. The brain care clinic in Madison expedited the waiver. The issues stem from the absolute rudeness of the front desk, the nurse, and Dr. Grindell. They did administer vaccinations in Aug. '23 (a Friday). They mistakenly administered adult doses of 8 shots! The nurse didn't stay after my son noted pain and lightheadedness. His arm swelled up and had bulges and a red mark that grew over the weekend. I made multiple attempts to contact Dr. Grindell/staff. We spent the entire weekend with the triage nurse and at urgent care. They didn't even return calls the following Monday! This caused extra urgent care visits and worry because Grindell's staff wouldn't answer or return calls, texts, or emails until the medical error was noted the following Tuesday. Dr. Grindell phoned. I expected him to, at minimum, ask if my son was okay. He didn't call to address concerns, ask if my son was okay, or apologize—only to legally note the medical error. Then, this year, I received a "legal notice" in the mail stating that my son was missing vaccinations. We unnecessarily went to our new (excellent) pediatrician to be told he was UTD. The school nurse said the vaccines from last year (Grindell's office) were never reported. Everything at Dr. Grindell's appointment, including the office and staff, was awful.

He didn't recall sending me to the ER, prescribing Prednisone, or referring me to a Rheumatologist. All due to a severe reaction to from a pneumonia vaccine that his office gave to me. Absolutely didn't remember. ?

Very helpful, personable, and able to articulate reasoning for decisions. Seems less bothered than 98% of doctors by my asking for clarifications about things and leaning on him for his expertise. Also seems less bothered than 99.9% of GPS when I said one way of treatment was preferable to his first option. Very open to different people and flexible to different ways of solving medical problems. I left his annual exam feeling empowered to improve my own health rather than badly about myself that I didn’t fit some antiquated standard. That to me is the marker of a great GP.

Annual wellness check. Personable common sense collaborative approach to personal responsibility for health care. A great PCP.

Dr. Grindell always takes my concerns seriously, thinks about and tests for all likely conditions, and is quick to follow up on treatment. Everything was explained clearly. A great doctor!

Saw Dr. Grindell because my primary was booked. I went in with 3 issues. He made a comment they didn't know if I was coming. The front desk was behind as well as registration. I was on time. He said they were really behind, implying it was due to me, and he couldn't address all 3 issues. Even though I needed to make a copay. My sinus issue, which I still have, he didn't even check me and told me to use a netty pot. Completely dissatisfied with this appointment. He spent less than 5 minutes with

Dr. Grindell is great! He always takes time to discuss problems and concerns at the beginning of the appointment. He explains things very well and follows up promptly. A very kind and caring Doctor!
