Worst appointment of my life.
Dr. Getter made a diagnosis of my pain level & condition by my physical appearance and the way I was 'pulled together' for my appointment that day. I sat through my initial consultation in tears. I was referred to Dr. Getter through my Primary Care physician, hoping for some answers for my back pain, only to be accused of not being honest with my answers while completing the extensive online patient questionnaire, and not looking 'disheveled' enough to be in pain.

He's The Best
Dr. Getter is the man!! If I could give him and his staff 10 stars I would. And I know of what I speak as Dr. Getter did ACDF (cervical discectomy and fusion) in Oct. 2021 and L4/5 lumbar laminectomy (decompression) surgery for me last week (Feb.3, 2023) and I could not be happier. His staff is awesome, friendly, compassionate and caring while Dr. Getter is all of that and more being highly experienced, talented, personable (actually has a great sense of humor) and is great at making his patients feel at ease and alleviating any fears they may have. If there is a spine surgeon hall of fame I hereby nominate Dr. Getter for induction.

Never Again
Was referred to Dr. Getter by my neurologist for chronic neck/back pain. From the start of my appt with him, he seemed rushed, rude, condescending and seemed as if I was wasting his time, although I cleared my schedule to accommodate his request to come in earlier. Without much discussion about my previous history, he was quick to say doesn’t do neck surgeries (although I don’t need one) and quick to say he doesn’t do necks at all even though his specialty and reviews say otherwise. When I asked him questions about concerning my neck pain, he kept saying he didn’t know. It’s one thing to say you don’t know. I can accept that much. But, it’s clearly another thing when you just don’t care. Quite apparent he didn’t and so disappointing because I truly needed his help today. This pain isn’t living and it’s dr’s like him that make it so hard to keep going sometimes.

Dr Getter is an awesome spine surgeon, he has repaired both my cervical spine issue 2 years ago, and recently my lower spine issues. In both cases I had immediate relief from my symptoms. Not only is he a great surgeon, he is great patient rapport, fun to talk to and reassuring about the procedure he proposes for your situation.

My name is Don Chambers and I am a lobster fisherman from Bar Harbor, Maine. I am 85 years of age. Recently I started having bad pain in both legs. It got so bad that I could not bear it much longer. Both legs were starting to go numb and I could not sleep because the pain never stopped. On the January 19, 2021 he performed surgery on my spine including fusions in my lower back. It was a very extensive surgery and on the day of surgery he had me standing up on my two legs which were 100% pain free! It was like a new life for me. I will never forget what he did for me. If you ever need a spine surgeon, please call Dr. Robert Getter! I assure you that you will not be sorry. If there is a way you can be fixed he will find it. He also has a great bedside manner and is willing to listen. His office staff which includes Steven, Tiffany and Kelly are very knowledgeable and friendly. Also a special thanks to his hospital staff at Bayfront Punta Gorda during and after surgery!

I had a major surgery about a year ago. It was my 5th back surgery and for 2 months I was pain free. Did everything I was instructed to do. Woke up one morning with excruciating sciatic back pain and went to ER. The next day went back to see him and after explaining the pain that was exactly like the pain I had before he operated. He was so rude and arrogant to me that I was in tears. He looked at xray from ER for 2 seconds without an explanation. Now I need a 6th surgery with fusing 3-5 levels

Dr. Getter is confident, experienced, with great bedside manor. My wife and I have decided to go ahead with my cervical surgery based on his ability to quickly access the problem from my tests and making a confident decision on a course of action. This inspires confidence in a patient like myself. His staff also is accessible for questions. He has the most efficient office staff I have ever seen. They set up clearance with my PCP and the hospital so fast all I had to do is show up!

I have a history of lower back injury with 2 surgeries. Lately my pain level has increased past the tolerable state my numbness has been more constant and I had an episode of numbness on both sides of the body. Dr Getter may have looked at my MRI that was taken 13 months ago. He came to the room and started telling me that I was not a candidate for surgery. Never asked me how I injured my self and if I re-injured my self since the MRI over a year ago. No respect for the patient!!
