Honest Review of Dr. Carlile
My first visit to Dr. Carlile, I was suffering a reaction to meds that presented an array of neurological symptoms. Dr; Carlile listened to me and my wife very patiently. He did what I would've done under the circumstances: ordered an EEG, Blood Tests, and an MRI to rule out neurological problems that could explain the symptoms. Upon my follow-up, I was happy to hear there were no neurological deficits. Then I brought up the 'grizzly bear on my back,' my cluster-migraine headaches. He listened attentively, we discussed options, we arrived at a course of action. I couldn't be more pleased with the service he and his staff provided.

Great doctor
Dr. Carlile was my father’s neurologist and he did a great job helping my father and step mother when he was diagnosed with dementia. He is now helping me with my aunt who I am now caring for. He is patient, caring, and a wealth of knowledge. He is getting everything figured out with my aunt who was originally misdiagnosed with Parkinson’s in Florida. I appreciate him and his wonderful and patient staff. They are a blessing

Hit-or-Miss
I have had Chronic Migraine Disease for 28 years. Dr. Carlile doesn't seem to understand that I have learned the hard way how to manage my disease - that I've tried all sorts of medicines and methods to reduce my risk of a migraine attack. He will not prescribe medicines like Phenergan to ease my pain (it's inexpensive, has few side effects, and it works!) Instead he prescribes newer meds that just don't work for me - Ubrelvy and Qulipta (daily preventives) for example. He "talks over my head" to my husband. (I'm a college-educated woman who worked in biomedical and agricultural research labs for 28 years. I'm neither a fool nor an idiot.) He is the first Neurologist since September 2020 to schedule less than 4 appointments a year. Yes, I've had to reshedule appointments with him. I understand Dr. Carlile is well-educated in his field. May he learn compassion for patients like me.

First time I had ever been to a neurologist, so it was a relief to feel at ease so quickly. His nursing staff was excellent and friendly and Dr. Carlisle seemed to be be very supportive and concerned for my health. I am extremely pleased to let him worry for me and feel I am in great care.

I wish Dr. Carlile was a primary care doctor he is the best doctor I’ve ever seen. He actually reads your file before he sees you, and listens to everything I have to say. After two years of telling other doctors what was going on with me Dr. Carlile is the only one that figured it out I’m grateful for that.

Following four weeks of leaving numerous unanswered messages at Dr. Carlile’s office, I drove 45 minutes to his office. Instead of receiving the reportedly anticipated diagnosis of four weeks prior, I was told that my numerous telephone messages had been mistakenly routed to the voicemail of an ex-employee. I further learned that the obstacle to my diagnosis lay in an insufficient blood draw of early May. However, it remains unclear why I was never informed. Seven weeks passed with no contact regarding the results of the second blood draw results, which I was told would take a few days at most. I spoked with the Palmetto Primary Care Physicians Charleston Neurology Associates office manager. At that time, I learned that a third blood draw would be necessary. Again, I was never notified! When I expressed my ongoing dissatisfaction with a total lack of communications the completely unapologetic office manager became unprofessionally belligerent, sarcastic, and argumentative.

His office manager lied about a critical pre-authorization on a prescription. She said my insurance company was stubborn, and it would require a "special appeal." When I called my insurance company, they had never heard from his office. While I was on the same line, they told my insurance rep. they had just emailed the doctor for the diagnosis so they could file it. In response to my request for an explanation, he wrote me, severing the doctor/patient relationship. You cannot trust them.

Dr Carlisle is very thorough. I have not gone to a neurologist since Dr Plyler left and I am so pleased that I was sent to Dr. Carlisle. I believe anyone would have the confidence necessary for a healthy relationship with this physician. I have to commend Faith also. It speaks tremendously for an office to have such a personable and cheerful nurse to greet you especially when you are not feeling well.
