Be Cautious
In July 2019 Dr Blackwell injected into my cervical vertebrae and I subsequently spent 12 hours in the ER paralyzed. Everything was eventually resolved, but he closed his practice in Charleston the next day. I am entering this remark for the second time because it was very frightening to me and was a serious event. You should consider injections carefully because of my experience. I have been unable to locate him until now and assume this the correct Dr Blackwell who was with Compass Pain Clinic in Charleston. If this isn't the correct individual, I apologize.

No one else can perfectly hit my hip bursa and relieve pain as effectively as Dr. Blackwell. He is efficient, funny and honest. I have moved from SC but still try to see him when I return to see family. I've seen several docs here in Portland but none had done as well as him and they charge 10x more.

Dr Blackwell gave me a lumbar epidural injection in May 2016. Everything was perfect, pain was gone. Had a need for another injection in Jul of this year, and was told he was not accepting any new patients, as I thought I was a patient of his. I ended up having to search for another doctor. Need to change policy on just what is a new patient.

The rudest doctor I have ever dealt with. Refills take several calls and up to 2 weeks, then he lectures you about calling too much. Staff has been replaced by an answering machine. Pain patients are already in bad shape and do not need to be given a hard time time. Also was refused a referral to another doctor when I expressed my dissatisfaction. Finally got another pain Dr who is wonderful.

Dr. Blackwell is great at his job. However, that in no way makes up for the lack of compassion, consideration, or respect from his front end staff. I WAS a current patient for 2 years, but now I'm transferring my records to a different practice. It took 2 weeks and 50+ phone calls to get an appointment because the medical procedure codes were incorrect between his office and my insurance company. It's his office staff's responsibility to correct the medical codes, yet I was told I had to contac

Dr. Blackwell and his staff are the best there is. He has been treating me for 3 years with medication and injections and keeping my pain under control. They listen to what I have to say and then makea a decision on what form of treatment I need. Dr. Blackwell has been right on with his decision making. He is the doctor to see before you might need surgery. I rate him and his staff excellent.

Dr Blackwell was the best pain management Dr I had until I was forced to relocate. Unfortunately so did he. He was compassiionate allowed me to be in control of dosage of pain meds even though he knew I needed stronger. Wish I had a Dr like him now. Hope you are doing well Dr Blackwell. Thank you for your caring medical attention!!

I was referred to Doctor by another physician, but i wish i wasnt. Dr had a rather cold attitude and had his mind made up about me even before first visit. Got very annoyed when I was hesitant about his treatment option. Refused to offer any other choices. This was the worst doctor I've visited in over 15 years. Doctors should not foster preconceived notions about patients before they actually attempt to treat them. Will never return.

Dr. Blackwell just gave me a knee injection, I was very afraid after being sent to several doctors for this before they made my situation worse and I stayed in pain and my ankle and foot stayed swollen, well thanks to doctor Blackwell, he let me know everything he was doing and through it all which took no more than 5 or 10 min, all I felt was a quick pinch. Dr. Blackwell is Amazing, he know what he's doing and is quite good at it !! He also give me back injections. He's the Best Ever. Thank You

He came into the exam room & because I didn't bring my medical records with me from that point on he was nothing but dismissive, rude, & wasn't interested in what I had to say. He even had the nerve to accuse me of Not having Rheumatoid Arthritis!!! Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but if he says he's a pain Dr., is he a physic future teller? Physcotic- I'll agree with that. Instead of helping me, he got angry & dismissed when I questioned he's Ketamine treatment!!!! My advice pick any other Dr!!!
