January 6, 2022-- This is a F/U to the 3-star review posted on January 1st. The office was extremely busy and lobby full. I was escorted to an exam room about 15 minutes after my appointment time. The nurse who roomed me acknowledged that I had been totally overlooked on the last visit but assured me that only one person would be seen before me this time. Dr. V arrived in exam room in timely manner as promised. Reviewed stress test results and waited for any questions from us. He was relaxed, pleasant, warm as he answered all questions completely. He was accommodating to me as well as to my wife who was present. I felt it only fair to post this positive review since I took the time to post the unsatisfactory one. Subsequently, a 5-star rating is given this time.

I saw Dr. Villegas today due to shortness of breath & fatigue and he recommended I have an Angiogram. I was impressed by the amount of time he spent thoroughly explaining the procedure. I am confident in his knowledge and skill My only complaint is that each time I have an appointment with the doctor I am asked if I would mind seeing his PA as “the doctor had an emergency at the hospital” or “he is somewhere in the building probably on the phone with the hospital” or “he’s running behind and I could wait or see the PA”. I always request to see Dr. V himself even if I have to wait. (I had a bad experience with the PA shortly after my double CABG in 2011 & vowed I would not see him again). I told the PA today that since Dr. V will be doing the Angiogram I would like to speak to him in person. I don't know if this is standard procedure at this clinic or if it’s just coincidental that this always seems to happen to me.

I first saw Dr. Villegas in approximately 2009 for a stress test and consult and was pleased, I actually referred people to him. In 2017 I had AAA surgery with a vascular surgeon. I saw Dr. Villegas again in the fall of 2018 after 4-5 office visits and a number of tests by his PA's he was recommending a procedure for me at the last visit. I should say the PA did, after leaving the room three times for more information from Dr. Villegas. I decided to hold off until I could speak to my vascular surgeon, at no time in any of my appointments did I see Dr. Villegas. My vascular surgeon saw me two days later (insisted I come see him when I told him what was being recommended). He had a difference of opinion regarding what Dr. Villegas was recommending - I chose to take the consul of a Dr. that would actually talk to me face to face. Not coming to speak to me about a potential procedure before attempting to schedule it rubbed me the wrong way. I have found another cardiologist.

I was in and out of Urgent Care and the Hospital. They saw fluid on the lungs in the X-Ray and immediately said Pneumonia. I was not responding to the medication (Antibiotics), or the effects were short lived. Finally an Urgent Care doctor sent me BACK to the ER with his recommendations. The Electrocardiogram showed my heart was only pumping 30%. I was in heart failure all this time! This does not show in blood work. Dr. Villegas believes a virus damaged the heart, and that it may recover with medication.

Dr Villegas is one of the kindest, most educated cardiologists out there. He was called in a few years back on my case at the ER when I was suffering with a misdiagnosed Long QT Interval problem that had ended up flatlining me. After they resuscitated me, he and and electrophysiologist figured out that my QT interval was ridiculously long and needed a pacemaker/defibrillator to correct it and save my life. My PREVIOUS cardiologist had given me a clean bill of health, which was untrue.

Dr Villegas is amazing! He performed a heart catheterization inserting a stent for my husband through his wrist and was amazing every step of the way. I am recommending him to anyone in need of a Cardiologist! His caring and explanatory bed side manner made us feel comfortable and confident to be in his hands. We are forever grateful for him.

I highly recommend Dr Villegas. I have had a hard time controlling my blood pressure. After numerous medications and appointments, I decided to see Dr Villegas. The Dr reviewed all my all my symptoms and suggested I have an MRI. After the tests, Dr Villegas located what he diagnosed was some suspected blockage. A week later, I had an angiogram where Doctor Villegas located three blockages with one specific artery at 90%. Dr Villegas saved me from a heart attack. THANKS YOU DR RIZ!
