He's a good doctor but hard to reach, receptionist puts you on hold for 10min and when you try to make or cancel a appointment, you can't reach him. Tried calling back and NO ANSWER....Your blessed if you get through.

He's listens, is very thorough, kind, caring, and really wants you to be better. He likes what he does and it shows by actions and knowledge. He has been a guiding light 4 me. I had a very difficult case, and he didn't flinch, at all. He is a pillar of of encouragement and positive vibes. I recommend him to everyone who is having GI troubles. Thank you Dr. Shaughnessy for not being afraid of the adventure of a patient who is unique and not in super health, but getting there. A true blessing!

Dr. Shaughnessy is absolutely the best doctor I’ve seen. Medical schools would do well to use him as a model for bedside manner and patient care. I have had colonoscopies with many other GIs, and I didn’t think it mattered who did the procedure, but now I won’t see anyone else. I also saw him when I developed long Covid. It was before anyone had identified long Covid, and the many doctors I saw all said they didn’t know what was wrong and sent me on my way. Dr. Shaughnessy, though, kept digging and following up even when things were unclear. I can’t tell you how much it meant to have an ally through all the uncertainty. Dr. Shaughnessy’s kindness and humility stand out in a field that values neither. If you are looking for a GI, you can’t do better than Dr. Shaughnessy.

Nine years ago, I had suggested to my husband that he should have a Colonoscopy performed. I chose Dr. Shaughnessy based on reviews and after speaking to his office staff. The day arrived and what should have been a fairly quick procedure...lasted several HOURS! I believe about 3 hours. I was panicked and the staff at the clinic kept me very informed and told me that the doctor was dealing with 12 polyps! One was significant enough that other, less qualified doctors, would have called for an ambulance, heading to the hospital!. Dr. Shaughnessy is an Amazing doctor. The nurse told me that, "I, meaning me, saved my husband's life". That was profound to say the least. We are happy to report that my husband's follow up appointments have been perfect, with nothing to worry about. Dr. Shaughnessy also has an excellent personable quality. He truly cares for his patients. Everyone should run to him. He might save your or a loved ones life.

I am a physician and very picky about my doctors. Dr. Shaughnessy is the best GI specialist. He is an excellent doctor and is extremely kind. I would definitely refer him to my loved ones. I will forever be his patient!

Dr Shaughnessy is the best doctor very personable and so kind. He never gives up till he figures out what's wrong. I have seen alot of GI doctor and hands down Dr Shaughnessy is the best. Dr Richard Shaughnessy is knowledgeable and has an excellent bedside manner. He takes into consideration my other issues and medication, when deciding on a treatment plan.

Dr Shaughnessy has been my doctor for many years and I trust him completely. He has taken care of me through my cancer and other health issues. I believe I would not be here now without his expertise and his careful monitoring of my diseases. He is a caring and respectful doctor.

From the moment he walked into the room I was treated with the utmost respect. He listened to me and treated me as a whole person, not just a "part". He partnered with me to come up with an individualized treatment plan that would work best for me and my circumstances. He answered all of my questions and spent more time with me than any doctor ever has. As a person who has chronic medical issues, it was a welcome change to what I've been accustomed to. He had even read my chart before coming into the room. I would recommend Dr Shaughnessy to anyone who wants a excellent, knowledgeable, caring gastroenterologist who has a great bedside manner. I left his office with something I haven't had in a long time, HOPE.

I did a Cologuard test for the 2nd time as I couldn’t fathom the thought of drinking so much for the colonoscopy prep. My 1st test came back normal. This time it came back positive for blood. I was terrified, & being an RN for 25 years, my mind immediately went to Stage IV Colon Cancer. I received a call from Joanna at Dr. Shaughnessy’s office. She was so caring & was able to get me in to see Dr. Shaughnessy fairly quickly-within 2-3 weeks, with my colonoscopy scheduled the day after my appointment. When I met Dr. Shaughnessy he immediately made me feel at ease & that I would be well taken care of. I was given Plenvu for my prep. It did taste horrible, but I was so thankful it was so much less to get down. My colonoscopy went great & my diagnosis benign. When Dr. Shaughnessy said “I’ll see you again in 10 years” I felt so much relief! I would HIGHLY recommend getting the screening colonoscopy at age 45 & foregoing the Cologuard altogether-I would’ve saved myself from SO much distress!
