Dr. Richard Petty, DDS

My 17 year old son required having his wisdom teeth removed. I have mediocre HMO dental insurance through my employer. There were not many great choices for an oral surgeon in my dental HMO network. Dr. Richard Petty had only a few reviews, but they were all 5/5 stars. I had heard horror stories about oral surgeons severing the nerve to the tongue when removing wisdom teeth. Dr. Richard Petty is a man of few words, but will explain the procedure and possible risks. He will answer questions. I hear that he is a 3rd generation dentist/oral surgeon, so dentistry is in his blood. He is an older gentleman which means he has years of experience. The extraction of all 4 wisdom teeth went smooth. The entire procedure lasted about 45-60 minutes. When they let me see my son after the procedure, he was out of it from the sedation holding an ice pack to his swollen cheek. A few days of pain pills, soft foods, but my son was eating solid foods a week later. Dr. Petty did a great job!
