Blatant disregard for patient pain
I was referred to this Dr by my PCP, I waited in the reception area then waited in the examining room. Total about an hour. I had high level of pain that I had never experienced and I had not had an injury. After waiting in pain the assistant told me I would need to leave or agree to more x rays because they had not been received from my PCP. They offered to take new x rays but insurance will not cover 2 sets within a week. They could not wait for a faxed xray report because they had other patients waiting . I was asked to leave. The doctor could have been examining my foot while they waited for the faxes. The x rays they offered to take would have taken the same amount of wait time. I asked if the doctor could at least prescribe something for pain and was told the doctor will not see you so he can’t prescribe. This doctor and this group do not care about patient pain. They violate the oath they took for their profession. They have a blatant disregard for suffering. Go elsewhere.

Most obvious disregard for patient
I was so excited about getting an appointment after excruciating pain in my left foot. I was in the examining chair and the assistant offered to take x rays. I was told them the xrays were already taken and available from my PCP. I called and requested they be sent because the assistant said she could not get through. After being there an hour the assistant said they didn't get the xrays and they had other patients so I needed to leave. I asked if the doctor could at least look at the foot and prescribe something for pain and the answer was 'no' we have other patients waiting!! I called my PCP office immediately after being dismissed and was told they had been faxed and shown to be delivered. I've never been to a doctor before that treated me with such blatant disregard for pain. He was too busy to even take a look while I sat in that chair for an hour. Don't go to San Antonio Podiatrist Asso. There is a problem with ethics and human caring there.

More pain than before
Went to Dr Perez for bone spur and pain in foot. Dr. indicated chilectomy was good option, which we proceeded to schedule. Pain though was worse after. Mentioned this to doctor, who said I had progressed well and discharged me from further visits. From the pain levels and consistency before and after, I'm definitely worse off now than before. Was very surprised that the doctor discharged me when I told him this.

A skilled expert
Dr Perez is excellent--professional, efficient, knowledgeable, and skilled. He treated me for chronic plantar fasciitis in the right foot by performing a Tenex surgery in 2014 or '15, which was a less invasive technique that I'd researched. It worked wonderfully & no problems ever since. Then in December of 2022, my other foot (the left) developed chronic plantar fasciitis again, 13 years after having had a horrible traditional fascial release surgery & recovery by a different doctor. This time Dr Perez recommended 4 treatments of EPAT (a new technology: shockwave therapy) that he explained would work over a period or weeks or months. He was right--a month or 2 after my 4th and final treatment, my painful and chronic plantar fasciitis was gone. I am forever grateful!

The Dr was great. He was pleasant and talked me through everything. Only issue was the wait time. My appt was at 11:00. I didn’t get called to the room until 11:30 at which pint I still waited another 15 minutes to be seen. I only saw one other patient there so not sure what the hold up was.

I do not recommend Dr. Richard Perez. Spends no time with you and doesn't treat the problem. I went to a physical therapy doctor afterwards, and that doctor fixed the problem. Dr. Perez reports unpaid balances not paid by insurance company to the credit bureaus without first contacting you to tell you that you even have a small balance. I do not recommend.

Another review said shady billing, I am feeling the same!! I verified with our insurance company that we were 100%covered for the service my husband needed with a $75 co-pay. I told the office this from the very first appointment! They claimed that we had to pay out of pocket until the claim was processed then we would get a refund. Well after many calls and headaches it was finally processed and paid nearly a month ago. I have yet to receive my refund for what is now OVERpayment. They also a

I would recommend Dr. Perez especially to athletes who appreciate the usefulness of supplements and food as a way of healing. When I mentioned how vitamin B had brought about a dramatic shift in the nerve pain I was feeling in my feet, he did not dismiss it; rather, he encouraged it. Many doctors overlook the healing properties of nutrition but I was thankful that Dr. Perez was knowledgeable regarding nutrition. I was also thankful for his professionalism and clear communication.
