Dismissive and Unconcerned, to Patient's Detriment
I sought help for a red, swollen ankle that had not been responding to antibiotics for weeks and had begun to blister. Dr. Mizuguchi's instructions did not include applying any medication on the area. In the following days, the skin of the affected area began opening and what was now an open wound became progressively redder and larger, accompanied by much pain. Throughout the changes, I sent messages with photos, and Dr. M barely reacted. At one point, he told me to keep applying medication that he had never even prescribed. When he finally acknowledged that the angry gaping wound called for another exam, I could not secure an appt. for 2 weeks in spite of repeated requests. Other doctors advised me to go to the ER for more immediate help. Ultimately, I endured 3 nights in the hospital, lengthy treatment for the ulcer by a wound specialist, and now have to wear firm compression socks for the rest of my life. Dr. Mizuguchi’s gross negligence has resulted in lifelong consequences.

The reason for my visit was a red, swollen ankle that had not been responding to antibiotics for weeks and had begun to blister. Dr. Mizuguchi's instructions to me did not include applying any medication on the area. In the following days, the skin of the affected area began opening and what was now an open wound became progressively redder and larger, accompanied by much pain. Throughout the changes, I sent messages with photos, and the doctor barely reacted. At one point, he told me to keep applying medication that had never been prescribed to me in the first place. When he finally acknowledged that the gaping angry wound was not looking better and that I should see him again for a biopsy, I could not get an appointment with him for two weeks in spite of repeated requests. At the advice of other doctors, I went to the ER for more immediate help, at which point it was clear that the problem had become serious. My treatment elsewhere is ongoing.

The doctor took a flashlight and parted my hair with a pen and looked at my scalp and told me in no uncertain terms and without a biopsy that my hair would not grow back. I’m leaving this review 2 yrs later to tell you my hair did regrow in my crown area with care, essential oils and no relaxers. Granted it has not reached the peak growth rate of my earlier years but that’s not the same as “oh yeah it won’t grow back” which is what I was told. I left depressed and distressed over the fact that he was more intrigued by why I would have knowledge of Zubin Mehta and classical music rather than getting to the “root” of my hair loss issues. He seemed well-intended but unfortunately the focus of helping people was lost during my visit. Fortunately I visited a second professional who did perform a scalp biopsy and told me I did not have scarring alopecia which does result in permanent hair loss.

Went here for a routine exam and have insurance. I received a bill for $31.50 & after many attempts via phone and mail to ask why i never got an answer but was sent to collections. Horrible way to treat a patient and a total rip off i would not recommend this doctor or anyone associated with Mt. Sinai

Unprofessional. The doctor spent less than 5 min and before I knew it he was out of the door without saying bye and asking if I had any questions. He did not listen to my symptoms and concerns, did not bother to take a good look at my skin and did not recommend any preventive measures pertaining to my skin condition. He focused more on building a rapport by doing a small talk that is absolutely unnecessary and annoying. I wouldn't recommend this doctor, the visit was useless.
