Dr. Richard Marki, MD

I went with my partner today for a follow-up appointment. I have never been so disrespected and interrupted when asking questions to a medical professional. He gave us the option of a procedure that day or just a check-up. We took 30 seconds to almost try to discuss what we wanted to do before he said “Chop chop ladies! What's it going to be?” The whole appointment took about 7 minutes. But it was clear he wanted a quick 30-second appointment. Didn't read the medical chart before he came in and he misquoted procedures that had happened, and the dates, and was unsure of what medications my partner was on. Again, a quick fix had he taken the time to pull up the chart on the computer. We will never go back. I still feel sick to my stomach thinking about the callous way he treats patients when people are vulnerable enough to seek medical care. We did not feel safe, respected, or heard. Save yourself the horrible experience and find someone else.

I'll start off my saying something positive: Dr. Marki listened to me describe my symptoms (heavy menstrual bleeding, spotting in between periods) and wrote me a prescription for a vaginal ultrasound (which showed no abnormalities) to try to diagnose a problem if there was one.However, when the ultrasound came back clear, Dr. Marki recommended birth control to regulate my progesterone, which he said may be causing my spotting in between periods. However, he did not have any data (besides my symptoms, which could easily be caused by something else) to show my progesterone was low. He did not take my aversion to birth control seriously and downplayed the risks and side effects of birth control. He said that 'just one pill a day would fix' my problem.He later found a polyp that was causing the bleeding (so, not progesterone). I left the office quite disturbed by this experience.

I have been going to Dr. Marki for a number of years. He’s a great gynecologist, knowledgeable, and listens to any problems that you may have. I highly recommend Dr. Marki.

Dr. Marki is a wonderful gynecologist. Empathetic, knowledgeable, patient, reasonable. Really listens to the patient. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Horrible experience. I had a huge cyst with heavy bleeding. Dr Marki scheduled a DC procedure and couldn't do it because my uterus was high up to reach. Then a few weeks later I went to his office and I still had heavy bleeding and he told me to find another GYN doctor. Even his staff was in shock that he said that to me. I felt hurt and quickly dismissed by him. My husband and the rest of my family was furious. Well I took his advice and found a better GYN specialist who resolved my problem.

Dr. Marki has been my Doctor for over 25 years. He is the best diagnostician and because of his knowledge and care all my pre term labor issues delivered healthy babies even when the odds were against me. He is personable, kind and a brilliant surgeon as well.
