Dr. Richard Guinand, DO

Was sent by Lakeview Medical Center. After visiting Chesapeake regional hospital for excruciating lower back pain on right side. Dr Guinand after reviewing my prescription record, discovered that I had taken opioids medicine on December 2023 through January 2024 for double mastectomy complications. He immediately formed an opinion that I was seeking drugs. He stated he was going to prescribe pain pads and muscle relaxer . In checking with my drugstore he never did. Dr Guinand formed an opinion of me without even checking with my family doctor of twenty year. He became dismissive advised me to put cold pass and go to physical therapy. Two later here I am in severe pain with no relief. Will go back to my family doctor for assistance. I found Dr, Guinand to be opinionated, judgmental without cause. I would never recommend him and I intend to file a complaint against Dr. Guinand with the American Medical Association . He has no compassion.

My Primary Doctor sent me to Dr. Guinand for Sciatica. I had to have a couple shots in my back to get some relief. I had a bad experience years ago in Virginia Beach with a shot in my back and swore I would not have another. I ended up having a couple more in my back a few years later in NC. However the Dr. I had there was able to give me some meds in an IV that I would not remember. Dr. Guinand was unable to do that. I almost did not get the shots I needed but he talked me out of the tree so to speak. Great Doctor with a great bedside manner. Very compassionate. It was nothing like the first shot I had years ago. Thank you Dr. Guinand for helping me. I would highly recommend him to everyone. My experience with SMOC was wonderful from the time I walked into the office until I left. Staff is Wonderful also! 5 stars to the staff and Dr. Guinand.

I have know Doctor Guinand for over 10 years. He is the utmost professional and provides the best care. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Guinand cares about his patients. He has always done everything in his power to alleviate pain/symptoms that I might be having, while also figuring out the root cause. As an athlete, I have had to see him on multiple occasions over the course of years and he has always made sure I was ready for the next game/competition. Great doc and an even better person.

Dr. Guinand cared about returning my quality of life. He has excellent bedside manner and was easy share concerns with. He also checked on me multiple times and made sure I knew what my options were.

Always tells me how it is and what can be done. Will continue to go back

The Dr. explained everything very well

Dr Guinand saw me on referral for continued left leg radiculopathy. After consultation, we embarked on a treatment plan of spinal injections in attempt to resolve the pain and weakness. While the procedure sounds scary, he made it painless. My pain has since begun to resolve.

From SMOC, I have seen Dr Guinand, who I followed from another center. I like his mannerisms and how he proactively deals with the current and future issues. On the other two doctors I've met with (Dr Rapp which I will never see again) and Dr Iiams, I've been searching for other alternatives.

He was very on point with everything... Great personality and I'm sorry I didn't see him earlier. Love this Doctor
