Dr. Richard Etra
Dr Etra fully examined my autistic son for multiple conditions and was caring, compassionate, and a very good bedside manner. He treated Clayton as a person, not as someone with autism. I give Dr Richard Etra my absolute highest recommendation.

As a lifelong patient of Dr. Etra's, I feel compelled to write another review based on his most two recent ones. As to the one to avoid at all costs? Seriously that person needs their head examined. I have been seeing him for over three decades and I can assure everyone that he does not shake his hands while cleaning people's ears. Ever. I get my ears cleaned every three weeks. Maybe the girl was moving as one would know one should not move and sit still when getting your ears cleaned. Sounds as that person just wanted to take it out on Dr. Etra. And clearly doesn't know enough that Dr. Etra is the best ENT along with Dr. Kenneth Etra there is. After all, I've had tubes in my ears, etc. Now as far as the one where it says he should retire? LOL. That patient could be further from the truth. Sure there are times where Dr. Etra only cleans one ear and that's because he says it doesn't need cleaning. Anyone who knows ENTs like I do knows Etra is THE BEST. His patients are loyal and so am I

AVOID AT ALL COST
It's time to retire when you can no longer hold your hand steady. This doctor's hands shake profusely as he attempted to insert a sharp tool into my young daughters ear! Unbelievable.

He should retire
He hurt my ear and it still does not feel good. The the girl taking notes wrote that I was satisfied and that is not true. I complained that I did not like being hurt. She also wrote that he looked at two ears. Yes he saw that I have two ears but he only looked inside of one ear.

Dr Etra helped me 100 percent with my son. When pediatricians wanted to keep my child on antibiotics for a year because of ear infections. With putting tubes in his ears, saved my child from being on harmful antibiotics. He is awesome, and the best!! Don’t know how to thank him for taking care of my son!

I saw Dr. Richard Etra today in his Great Neck office 7/2/19 for the first time. I would say zero, but there's no place to post it. Before I saw him, because of heavy traffic I called the office to try to let them know I'd be a little delayed, however when they answered and I told her the info, she said she had to transfer me to the ENT department. 20 minutes later they picked up. No excuse when I got there. STRIKE 1 When I mentioned it to him he told me he had no say in any decisions whatsoever in the staff. It was ProHealth's responsibility. STRIKE 2 He's one of the most arrogant, condescending and doctors I've ever met. He might be a very good ENT, but, thank goodness, I'll NEVER go to him or his offices (non computerized where the same patient's info can't even be looked up.) STRIKE 3! PATIENTS BEWARE

I have seen both Dr. Richard & Kenneth Etra and they are both very nice, the only thing is if you are not there at the exact time of your appointment, they will NOT see you!

Unfortunately did not get in to see the doctor. After calling to make an appointment, reviewing insurance that he takes, went to appointment to find he "does not take that insurance". When I pulled out my paperwork and told the girl who I spoke to to make sure insurance was in order, I got ~ that was me, I called you back, no you didn't or I wouldn't have wasted my time coming. I also have caller ID & you are not on that either! Disgusted!

Dr. Etra rushed through my entire appointment - he consistently cut me off while I was talking and jumped to conclusions about a very painful condition I was seeing him for, and bounced back and forth between other patients in the middle of the appointment. I'm not convinced I actually had his attention at any point. Staff was unresponsive to my attempts to register my frustration. I wish I hadn't wasted taking a day off of work for this and had seen someone else to begin with.
