Dr. Reinaldo Sanchez-Torres, MD

Moving to Urbana from AZ, I asked for recommendations re a new heart dr. after May 2019 open-heart surgery for a valve repair and was given Dr. Sanchez's name. We met March 4, 2020 as follow-up. After a brief chat about my case and some basic stethoscope work, he merely continued my Rx and said goodbye. No EKG or other basic heart diagnostic was given or ordered. I was charged $500+ for the privilege. During Covid later, I was assigned a windowless lab as a teaching environment w/ an air purifier that covered only 1/5 the area. When my school refused to buy an appropriate size purifier without a "doctor's letter," I wrote to Dr. S to ask for this basic patient service, since I am now in TWO Covid risk groups. He refused, saying, "he does not feel an air purifier is of any benefit in preventing the spread of the Covid-19 virus," and repeated the stale old precautions about masks, hand-washing, etc. A minimalist who charges fully. He may be a skilled surgeon, but I won't be back.
