It’s complicated…..
Dr. Shepherd was running late but for a very good reason. He had a patient post surgery that needed him. I don’t mind waiting for someone like that. You hope if you’re a surgical patient that your surgeon is rushing through to see patients in the office. Definitely a point in his favor. He was honest, straightforward, kind and considerate. He felt that my issue was outside his level of expertise and did his best to manage the situation in the short term. Thankful he and his staff were able to work me in and do what they could to help.

World Class Hernia Surgeon and Even Better Man!
I was diagnosed by our family practice with a hernia after a local race in September. I was referred to Dr Sheppard. He was amazing! I never had any surgery in my life before this and he took time to explain the condition, procedure and the recovery and he put me at ease. As a person of faith, I really appreciated him praying with me. Dr Sheppard found and repaired a second hernia during the procedure. The recovery was very smooth. After 30 days, no pain or discomfort.

As an engineer, I really appreciated the fact that Dr. Sheppard took the time to answer all of my questions and was comfortable going 'off script' to consider the use of an alternate reinforcing material for the surgery.

Two Hernias
Dr. Sheppard performed two hernia surgeries on me in June and November. He did a great job. I highly recommend him. Office visits in the Madison location went as scheduled with no unreasonable waits.

Outstanding Doctor and Staff
After seeing over 20 Doctors in various fields in Huntsville it was a wonderful pleasure to find such a professional staff and 'GREAT' Doctor. Dr. Sheppard was very kind, professional, and answered all my questions about my hernia operation. He didn't have me complete any unnecessary tests, and his staff didn't over book with patients, my waiting time was very short. His staff is the finest staff in Madison and Northern Alabama.

Definitely would recommend
Dr.Shepherd has great bed side manner. He explained in detail my condition and the treatment plan. He prayed with me before surgery and that really meant a lot to me and speaks volumes about him as a doctor

Greatful to have found Dr. Sheppard
Dr. Sheppard took his time to show me scans of my issue and thoroughly explained how he could repair it. I never felt rushed and was able to ask all my questions. He was respectful of me, my time, and showed he cared. Dr. Sheppard takes the necessary steps for you to have a successful surgery as well as a successful recovery. His staff was wonderful to work with as well. They were very friendly and helpful. I certainly will be recommending him to family and friends!!

A doctor with a heart
The most compassionate and understanding doctor I have ever met. Doctors either test well in school or are born to serve the public. Dr Sheppard was born to serve that is why he is well loved by both staff and pts.

Such a blessing through the entire process.
Dr. Sheppard is very thorough and has a great bedside manner. It was almost like having my best friend doing the surgery. I especially appreciated him having prayer with us just before the surgery as he asked God’s blessings on the surgery and my recovery.
