Poor bedside manner
My husband had prostate removal surgery with Pak last month and I am extremely disappointed in the care. This doctor has absolutely no personal touch and will cut you off when you are talking. I feel he is smart, but I was so uncomfortable asking questions after the surgery because he is so cocky. Staff are uninformed and they did not even call us after the surgery to see how he was doing. I just wish he’d take a moment to breathe and remember this is the scariest moment of our lives and a little human touch goes a long way.Again,Pros -ExperienceCons -Atrocious bed side mannerDoesn’t listen wellNot confident in his decisions because he does not explain well and is not patientNot confident or comfortable asking him questions post op for same reasons above.

Dr Pak did a button Turp on me in Aug 2018, went back in Dec 2018 as I was having various bad symptoms. He performed a cystoscopy , he informed me that I had a stricture. He left the room came back and handed me five catheters. He told me to cath myself once a day and then try once a week. He then said ok and left the room. What a bedside manner. Got back home and went to a stricture urologist in Philadelphia. He treated me for six months and said there was no stricture. I wish I had never went to the Mayo clinic, Dr Pak said the turp would help me on many levels. My symptoms are worse than ever before.

Dr Pak at Mayo in Jacksonville performed a nerve sparing robotic prostatectomy on me three months ago. I am now cancer free and back to normal. I met with six other urologist across the country before deciding on Dr. Pak. Dr Pak is a true gentleman and scholar. I feel blessed to have been cured by Dr Pak and highly recommend him.

In performing periodic PSA, numbers bounced around in the 2-3 range with upward trend. Dr. Pak reviewed past history, & was first to take my case seriously, finding suspect MRI indication, performing 12 point biopsy + several nodes. Diagnosed with a Gleason grade 8 prostate cancer, contained at this early stage. He performed prostectomy, and at 14 months I am track for a full recovery. Besides being engaging & friendly, he is a highly competent surgeon who genuinely cares for his patients.

Dr. Pak is one of the most brilliant, dedicated, and compassionate doctors I have ever met, and I have been a nurse for 40 years. He quietly discussed his plan for surgery in detail, and answered all our questions. He gave us his up-to-date statistics for procedure success (which are comparable or exceeded the stats of all the other doctors we talked to). At 3 months post-op, the surgery and recovery have been a complete success.

I'd gladly recommend Dr. Pak to anyone. He has an excellent bedside manner, is easy to talk to, and answered every question I ever asked him about my condition and my treatment. He made sure we were both always on the same page. He saved my life and you can't understand how much my family and I appreciate that.
