Dr. Raquel Ong, MD

I’ve been type 1 diabetic for 18 years. When I was first diagnosed I had a terrible doctor who made me feel like anytime my blood sugars were out of range it was my fault. I was just a kid trying my best and he never once brought up other factors that could be affecting it (ie stress/hormones/etc) and since I was only 10 years old and he was an authority figure I thought he must be right - this must be my fault. When I found Dr Ong she changed my life. She was so understanding of outside factors and of how hard this disease is to manage and just really couldn’t have been sweeter. It made me want to try even harder to get my blood sugars in line, and I did! Eventually brought my A1c down from in the 9’s to now consistently in the 6’s in the years since being her patient. It sounds dramatic but she really has completely changed my life for the better. I moved an hour away and still make the drive to see her because she’s the absolute BEST. Love her so much, there’s just no one better.

Dr Ong is by far the BEST endocrinologist I’ve ever had. I’ve been Type 1 diabetic for almost 20 years, and she is easily my favorite doctor because not only is she super smart, but she is the most compassionate and understanding person and you can tell how much she really cares about you and your health! So many other doctors I’ve encountered will focus on what you’re doing wrong, but Dr Ong has always managed to mention what I’m doing right. I can’t explain how important that is to me, because this is a very challenging disease that I have to make decisions for all day long. It’s hard and easy to feel “burnt out”. But Dr Ong makes me feel seen! She recognizes the work I’m putting in, and works WITH me to make my results even better. I can’t say enough good things about this woman! She is simply the best.

Dr. Ong is wonderful! I had thyroid cancer and she has thoroughly explained my options. She is patient and I never feel rushed or that I don't understand something. She has shown me studies and brought my case to other doctors (surgeons, cancer specialists, etc.) to review and shared their opinions with me. She also noticed my cholesterol and sugar were too high and has me working on that. I highly recommend her!

Excellent experience with Dr. Ong. Takes her time, explains everything, and I could hear the caring and concern in her voice. Another great medical experience at the Hope Tower.
