Recently, I had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. Dr Howard performed the procedure and it went very smoothly. He was very gentle and I didn't feel a thing. The next that I knew I was in recovery waking up.. He is an excellent doctor and I highly recommend him to anyone needing his services. I give him a 5 star rating! Thank you!

1st Time visit(referred by my Primary) Got there and the door was locked. Took someone 5 -10 minutes to come out- had a line going down the hall. Finally signed in and she said doctor Howard was running behind and did not know when he would be there. The unfriendly receptionist asked for my copay and I explained I did not want to pay it until I knew the doctor was going to see me. She said if he doesn’t see you it can go towards your future appointment(again I said I would wait to pay when the doctor arrived). Waited 45 minutes and the doctor was still a no show. The receptionist asked one more time for my money(with no services rendered) I decided to leave and find a new doctor. As one other review mentioned his staff was robotic and definitely not friendly.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Dr. Howard saw my husband on a referral supposedly for an ultrasound. He came in tapped on my husband's stomach and said he was scheduling a colonoscopy. My husband had a C Diff infection and after a month on antibiotics we thought it was gone after he had the colonoscopy. A few weeks later the same symptoms he had came back and our primary care physician sent him back to Dr. Howard because after 2 different antibiotics the infection would not clear. While waiting to see Dr. Howard ( appt a few days away) the pain was so severe my husband went to the ER. The hospital did a CT scan and told my husband that his colon was 3x the normal size and almost swollen shut. He was given two rounds of steroids as well as antibiotics and a pain medication to hold off his symptoms until he saw Dr. Howard. Dr. Howard tapped on my husbands stomach a couple of times again and said nothing was wrong with him. He was just constipated. Another Dr. Confirmed the severity.

I never got to see Dr Howard despite the fact that I my appointment was suppose to be with him. His office staff could have been robots as far as the ability to communicate with them. That was exactly what they acted like. It was like they were programmed as to exactly what to say and they never even changed the tone of their voice. If you tried to ask a question they automatically went back to their programmed speech. i have necessary tests scheduled but I will probably cancel them

I credit Dr.Randy Howard with saving my life. I had an endoscope done. He saw a tiny white spot off to the right side. He said it may just a glare or a and little speck of on the scope. But he did not feel comfortable as a doctor letting me leave his office and not having it checked by someone else. He thought it was nothing but just wanted to he safe. As it turned out I had lung cancer. Dr. Howard was the one to spot It. Thank you Sincerely, Cynthia Crabtree

I have to say that I am very dissapointed in my experience with Dr Howard and his staff at Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Hendersonville. Everyone at his office has been extremely rude and unhelpful. This statement does exclude Misty Martinez, the nurse practitioner, she was kind and knowledgeable but it wasn't enough... It feels like everyone else in that office is going out of their way to make a difficult situation even harder.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Howard and his staff. I sincerely believe they are concerned about my well being. I'm a 35 yr-old female and had a few symptoms that could have been anything, but because of Dr. Howard's thoroughness, we found out quickly that I had some serious polyps and they've been removed and his office continues to remind me how to stay on top of screening and prevention. Thanks, Dr. Howard and staff!

While I do believe Dr. Howard to be an excellent Dr., there is no sense of urgency to let his patients know the results of tests that have been performed. My daughter has a procedure a week ago and she has not gotten any results from this test yet. I do not believe this is good practice, and she needs to know something. Is this not the reason you go to a doctor, for them to help you?

I would never EVER come here. Office staff is horrible and rude. My mother called because she believes she has Colitis again she just had it 3 months ago.. she so called to talk to the doctor. When she told the nurse she looked up her history and saw where she had it 3 months ago and said oh yes that is VERY serious you need to have a follow up appointment and my mom was like no this is new it started again. My mom just had surgery so she said I just had surgery is there anyway to expedite and
