Dr. Raina Phillips, MD

For things like allergies and routine health checks she was fine. But as soon as you come in with symptoms that are hard to diagnose or prove, she is pretty much checked out. Do try to find someone else who is more attentive and caring, and takes you and your conditions more seriously.

Dr. Phillips was my physician for two years, during which time I was extremely pleased with her care. Last year, because of my health insurance, I had to choose another doctor. This year, I am choosing a policy that will allow me to return to Dr. Phillips.

This doctor walked in on me naked and when she realized she just continued in the room. She didn’t say sorry or ask if I still needed a minute. She looked at me confused and then said “Oh you must be getting a Pap smear”. I had never met her before and she didn’t even know why I was there. She then prescribed me allergy meds for panic attacks and told me to eat kimchi for my heartburn. It was the weirdest thing I have ever heard anyone say much less a doctor. She suggested very expensive testing and when I told her my insurance won’t cover she told me I was wrong. She works for Kaiser Permanente and I went to a Kaiser facility to see her, so her lack of awareness was shocking. I’ve never been to doctor that didn’t have some knowledge of the cost of test they were ordering and what insurance companies typically cover. She did prescribe one med I asked for, thank God, but the day before the refill was due she told me I need a same appointment (not covered by my insurance) for a check up
