Worst doctor ever!!! His license has been suspended by the board of medicine in California. Massachusetts only says he volunteered it. Again worst doctor ever!!!

Dr. Shafa is a very caring physician. He listens and does not rush you. His judgment is solid. I have been under his care for 20 years. He changed my life. I was so sick and was losing my job. Under his care and with the medication he prescribed I recovered. I recommend Dr. Shafa to anyone.

Dr. Shafa is an incredibly patient, caring, and thoughtful psychiatrist. Many of his patients have been going to him for years, if not decades, and some patients even span multiple generations. He is extremely knowledgable about the field of psychiatry amongst other things. He displays culturally competent care and strives to understand the patient as a whole. He's doing amazing work combating negative stigmatization surrounding mental health. I could not recommend him more!

Dr. Shafa is one of the most intelligent, honest, and compassionate providers I have ever met. It is refreshing to see how much he cares about his patients. His extensive experience in the field of psychiatry enables him to provide appropriate, effective, and individualized treatment plans. I can truly say I feel blessed to have met Dr. Shafa! Do not come here if you are looking for a quick fix with adderall or benzos. Behavior and mental changes are completed through collaborative work by the provider and patient together! I highly recommend Dr. Shafa.

I came to Dr. Shafa with Vols of paperwork in hand and ready to start over. With a complicated medical history. Over 10yrs I have met many people who are dedicated Shafa PT's, with him for longer than myself and a range of reasons for being there. He is dedicated to his PT's and will go the extra mile. Great Dr and Great Teacher.

Dr. Shafa is extremely dedicated to his patients. He will bend over backwards and do whatever it takes to help his patients and be there for them. Yes the wait time is long but it’s because he will take his time with each patient and will never rush them. He is always willing to work with patients and have them come at times when it’s most convenient for the patient.

Dr. Shafa prescribed me medication that gave me awful side effects, and I told him I wanted to take something else and he got upset and conveniently decided to tell me that I smell bad and look like I don’t take care of myself- completely out of context. Meanwhile he knows I have body dysmorphic and eating disorders. No disrespect to the student nurses there either, but it’s frustrating being treated like a medical experiment. Shafa talked about me to his students like I wasn’t even in the room. They all treated me like I was crazy and didn’t know what I was talking about when I did my own research on medications they wanted me on. He told me it’s my fault that my medication wasn’t working because I still had marijuana in my system, but I stopped smoking to be on that medication. Why would he prescribe it to me in the first place if I would need to go through a complete detox first? Not to mention the wait time is consistently awful, you WILL wait at least 2 hours for every appointment

Dr. Shafa is an excellent doctor, who cares about all of his patients. The wait time may be long, because he takes the time to interview the patients extensively and really hear what they need to say. He creates a safe environment for his patients and does not let them leave until he feels he has given them the most thorough and most appropriate medical care. He is the most experienced psychiatrist in the area and should be rated much higher then how he is on this website.

Don’t let Shafa’s smile and good looks fool you. It might appear that he cares but in the long run you will see that is not true! I understand his expertise in drug addiction, but if you have a mental illness he is not the one to help you.TRUST ME! I found out that he prescribes the med called Colozipine to the majority of his patients. This med is for schizophrenia and only for stubborn cases.I have depression. Coming off of it I became so ill that I almost died. Causing serotonin syndrome.

Dr. Shafa is a very thorough and compassionate physician. He spends as much time as needed which each patient and really cares about each individual that he treats. He takes the time to earn the patient's trust and review treatment options in full, which is why he often runs late. Bring a book!

It's apparent to me that Dr S and his office manager wife are in this business for the sake of money and not for the best interest of patients. He overbooks appointments and the wait time is outlandish (over 3 hours). Many patients have severe mental illness or addiction and become violent in the waiting room. There is no security nor nurses nor other doctors to respond. His wife is rude and unprofessional and upsets the majority of patients. Definitely not serving the best needs of patients!

Horrible! Waited 6 hours for a 5:30p appt. Paid $100 cash and got sent to A/R. After 3 visits I went back to the streets. Easier. I have a job, mortgage, family, not 6 hours for an appt. Told me I was bipolar. I am not, my dad is a real psychologist, I think he would know. If you pay cash get a receipt for when you wind up in A/R. His office staff is rude from the manager on down to the pissboy, including the snyde little trash bag receptionist. This guy only cares about making money

Made an appointment 3 weeks ago for 4pm today. Was told that he is running behind. Behind means 4 patients are ahead of me, and they each get at least an hour. So, looks like he will be finally able to see me sometime after 8pm. I've been seeing him for over 5 years and am sick of playing his games as a patient. I had a really hard day today, and have been trying to manage my anxiety without medication. Very often have been on the edge of losing it. Time for a new doc. He doesn't care.

The worst experience ever. Waited over 5 hours for my first appointment, and was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder within 5 minutes of talking with him. I'm not bi-polar. INSISTED I use the pharmacy located in the same building, even though I use CVS. WHAT A JOKE. HE SHOULD HAVE HIS LICENSE REVOKED.
