Dr. Prasun Shah, MD

My husband had acute alcoholic hepatitis. Dr. Shah saw him numerous times in the hospital in Texas. His bedside manner was awful, cold. He told us from the beginning that my husband had no chance. When we were discharging back home (we were out of state) he came in said my husband would need a liver transplant and said “goodluck.” Nothing else, no explanation, no recommendations, no referrals. My husband, my in laws and my entire family including myself were in complete shock and grief. Not only traumatized by the news but also the complete disregard for my husband’s health/life. I took him back home. I told them in the ER that he needed a liver transplant, the hepatologists there looked at us like we were crazy. Not only did they tell us he didn’t need a transplant, that this one episode would resolve and most likely leave no liver damage at all. A year later, no cirrhosis (or any liver disease) and definitely no need for a transplant, just emotional trauma and disbelief linger.

He listened to my concerns and wanted to do a couple of test, before prescribing any medicine. He took the time to explain why it would be beneficial for my health care.

I have had three GI doctors, and all three were kind of a disappointment. Then, while searching online, I found out about Dr. Shah and the practice where he works. It was quite a revelation! He listens to what you have to say, I mean really listens. When you have questions, he will answer them honestly, and if he doesn't know the answer, he will find out and talk to you about it . He is helping me find some way for me to have a Fecal Transplant to help cure my IBS. A new lease on life!
