Dr. Gupta decides whether you are worth a checkup, even if you are in pain. If he believes he won't make a substantial profit from your case or if you won't require many procedures, he will decline to see you.

Dr. Gupta has taken excellent care of me for approximately 30 years. He is a superb and caring doctor. Because of his high degree of professionalism and skill, I trust him with my life. He is also a very pleasant person to know and I always look forward to my contacts with him. I recommend him as an outstanding doctor.

After 15 years of colonoscopies I fired Dr. P. Gupta. Yes, I fired him. I need medical attention for other gut issues, and not exclusive treatment for slow growing polyps that are removed at 3 to 5 year intervals. Twice in the last couple of years (’19 –’20) I tried getting an appointment with Dr. Gupta as my primary Gastroenterologist respective to these major gut issues. Both times he through his staff either referred me to my family physician or go to the emergency room. Apparently, Dr. Gupta as a Gastroenterologist in private practice, and Chief of the Gastrointestinal Unit at Virginia Hospital Center, he is only interested in providing exclusive services for my butt, and not my gut. He knows where the money flows. The wealth comes from my butt and not my gut.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gupta's for many years and found him to be kind and caring. He lead me through my medical issues and probably saved my life because he was persistent in my treatment. I would highly recommend him for any gastro issues you have.

Making an appointment or getting in touch with anyone on the staff was almost impossible. The phone rings but no one picks up and there is no voicemail. When I did leave a voicemail, no one called back. Finally, when I got in touch with staff, they were very rude and dismissive. Dr. Gupta also dismissed my concerns and rushed through the appointment. His staff member also informed me that other patients have it worse and I am lucky.

This doctor does not know how to work with people with disabilities and his staff did not take the time to try to understand a mute patient.

It is impossible to call the office and talk to someone to schedule a procedure. (I was already a patient.) You must leave a voicemail and if you can't take their return call - you are out of luck! I mentioned this when i saw him (finally) for the procedure and Dr. Gupta could not have cared less. He was dismissive and clearly did not care about his patient's time. His time was important and ours (mine) was not ... Dr. Gupta was also unapologetically late for the procedure. Go elsewhere!
