My father sees Dr. Vongkovit. Dr. Vongkovit spends very little time with his patients. Visits with him feel like playing 20 questions. He is not proactive with discussing a patient's health condition, treatment strategy, expected, common side-effects of medications, or approaches to alleviate pain or side-effects. He waits for the patients to raise even the most common, basic questions or concerns. He also does not see to monitor his patients progress over time. We're fairly confident that the shift from my father's stage 1 no big deal cancer to stage 4 very big deal cancer within 6 months is due to Dr. Vongkovit's lack of attentiveness. He treats the disease (sort of) and not the person. However, some of this could also be due to Kaiser culture when it comes to chronic and challenging health conditions. I recommend looking elsewhere for an oncologist and health insurance.
