Dr. Ping Gu, MD

Dr. Gu should not be practicing medicine. I have never met a doctor less caring, less professional and less involved with his patients care than Dr. Gu. He is administratively and technology challenged and he gets annoyed and agitated when you ask any questions about your treatment. He also never calls to tell you the results of your scans when they have been posted in the portal for over a week. Dr. Gu should not be patient facing as he is unable to explain anything about the treatments he is providing. When he finally blesses you with his presence (which is rare), he offers no useful information and only gives one word answers if you are lucky enough for him to even answer your question. I am surprised that MSK would tolerate this type of care from one of their doctors.'

Dr Gu has been treating me for four and a half years for pancreatic cancer. He has walked me through my treatment with precision and made all of the right decisions. My family and I trust Dr Gu. After 4 years I am cancer free. Dr Gu shows a level of care and concern that we very much needed when I received my very daunting diagnosis. I would highly recommend him to anyone. J.G.

My mom was under care of Dr Gu, due to holidays and vacation, appt delays were a problem. When my mom was sent to Sloan in NYC for emergency care, dr Gu refused to take the trip to nyc to see her and at the same time would not turn her care over to someone at sloane in nyc! I would not recommend this doctor based on what we went through

Dr. Gu is very thoughtful and knowledgeable medical oncologist who takes the time with his patient: review medical record and explain the abnormal finding, arranges further necessary test and discuss treatment. He is caring and compassionate.

Dr. Gu is at the very top of his field and administers care with the precision of a brilliant scientist. He is up on cutting edge and complex treatments and approaches his patients with confidence and compassion. His support staff is equally competent and the whole team communicates openly, professionally, and kindly. Due to Dr. Gu's and the MSK surgical team's best-in-class care, I am now cancer free.

Dr. Gu is extremely sensitive and answered all my questions with kindness. I have been under his care for the past four years after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. He saved my life!! Dr. Gu was thorough and was always available if and when needed. Made me feel at ease. I have always been treated well by the staff and facility personnel at MSK. I would highly recommend him and his team.

Dr Gu is a truly thoughtful and intelligent doctor who gives of himself with his care and expertise! He knows the different treatments for cancer and researches the best one for his patient. My cousin has been under his care for 16 months and she is able to tolerate the chemo pretty well. That is because Dr Gu takes the time to evaluate the patient herself as well as the results of the treatment. We are so fortunate to have him as her oncologist !!! Thank you Dr Gu

Dr. Gu is one of the absolute worst human beings I’ve ever had the displeasure of knowing. His bedside manner is unbelievably rude. Honestly, knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t allow this man to pull a splinter. Forget about cancer care. My father received terrible care and we had to endure this man’s crazy mood swings and clear lack of caring. I assumed going to MSK meant good, caring doctors. What a disappointment.

Dr. Gu is absolutely wonderful! He genuinely cares about his patients and is extremely helpful. As an RN myself, I’ve seen many doctors who leave a lot to be desired. But Dr. Gu is not one of them. For example, if there are concerns with my husband’s bloodwork, he personally walks over to the treatment center to tell him or calls personally if we’re at home. We couldn’t ask for better care!

At first I thought he was from another planet. But over a couple of sessions caring for my dad, I realized how down to earth he was. He had spend HOURS trying to help us understand the reality of my dad's disease. Our dream of a miracle cure was crushed-it wasn't realistic. His style is tough, but fair and as it turned out exactly what we needed. He offered a new treatment plan, not cookie cutter cancer medicine. 3 mos later, dad got the miracle after all & achieve remission with Dr Gu's help.

My mother is Dr. Gu's patient. Dr. Gu cares about his patient and tried every possible way to help my mother. Thank you very much.

I will never see this doctor again. He is horrible at communication and completely unprofessional. Completely awful and shouldn't be practicing.
