Excellent Doctor
Dr. Phillip Calenda is an incredible Ophthalmologist who has treated my grandmother, sister, dad, and myself. Unlike a previous doctor I saw who didn't even examine my eye, Dr. Calenda carefully looks into his patients' eyes and creates a personalized treatment plan for them.

Get ready for the bill in the mail
Your five minute visit is going to cost you a lot more than they tell you. The office clearly told me how much it would cost (which I paid immediately). A month later I got a big bill which they said was my problem when I tried to dispute it. They are either liars or incompetent. Either way, if you go, be sure to film your interaction for when you get the bill.

Beware!
Dr Calenda spent less than 5 minutes with me. I showed him a swelling in my eyelid which he barely glanced at and said it was a stye and to apply heat packs. He also said I had the beginnings of glaucoma. I immediately went to a glaucoma specialist who said not only did I not have glaucoma but the swelling was not a stye. She was 90% sure it was cancer …probably a lymphoma and immediately scheduled me for a biopsy. It was cancer and was a non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I am now being treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering Caner Center. This doctor should not be practicing. As if this wasn’t enough he billed my insurance over $1100 for a procedure (corneal ultrasound) that he did not perform. Really shocking. Fortunately, Medicare denied that claim.

This dr is made out of stone . Treats you like you are an object not person. He barely looks at you or talks to you . He must be related to someone to be working here

Charged my insurance using more expensive new patient code. Been there every year for 5 years. Definition of new is a patient not seen in last 3 yrs. Return "checkups" brief and numerous. Continued to have vision problems, so changed to another doctor who did tests I'd never had before and discovered an underlying retinal condition I had not been advised of by Dr C. Observation: waiting room always filled with older people who staff schedule for a return visit at checkout.
