Dr. Peter Zimmer, MD

Dr. Zimmer is, without a doubt, the most devoted and caring Dr that I have ever had. I had complications with my surgery which required additional surgery and he was right there through that emergency situation to handle it himself as soon as the test results were known which required him going back and forth from his office. This situation required a lengthy hospital stay and he was there everyday to check on me and analyze my treatment. When test results reflected negative news, he always told me himself even when it meant him coming back to the hospital after going home for the day. I am 100% healthy today and truly believe Dr. Zimmer saved my life!

I am a typical 65 year old with a history of endometriosis, fibromyalgia and several abdominal surgeries. I went in to check about a possible hernia, at the recommendation of Penrose ER. This is how it went: I was in the room for 45 minutes when a young student came in to get more history and exam me. After examine me, he talked with Dr. and they both came back in. Dr. Zimmer was very rude and short with me, told me to get to get on table and he poked around on my stomach and then proclaim, it was fibromyalgia. He was so dismissive and arrogant, he was there less than 5 mintes. He told me you don't need surgery and I can go now. I never spoke more than two sentences to this man, for him to even form an opinion about me. This was very upsetting and happens too often to older woman.

Dr Zimmer was great! Everything from the first visit with his office staff to discharge from the hospital was great. Went in for a consult for my hernia on a Monday and had robotic surgery a week later. I really like how he's direct and to the point. He's very confident in himself and that's what I want in a surgeon. Hope I never need his services again, but if I require surgery in the future I will go back to him.

I had a bilateral iguanal hernia that I have been postponing for years. The prospect of two open surgeries, each with 6 weeks of little-to-no activity was daunting. Dr. Zimmer met with me within 3 days of my first inquiry and scheduled the surgery for only two weeks from there. He expertly fixed both hernias in a single (laparoscopic, robotic) surgery. The whole surgical team at St. Francis Hospital was competent, professional and pleasant. Not only was my experience with the surgery and the whole team very positive, but I was able to ride my spin bike at the end of the first week post-surgery, and now on the 3rd week, I have resumed normal activities. I would highly recommend Dr. Zimmer to anyone needing general surgery.
