Dr. Peter Pickens, MD

He is compassionate and caring for his patients. He’s never in a hurry yet on time. He’s patient and has a great sense of humor. He is thorough and answers questions so his patients understand. He is also very supportive to his wand their families. He will surely be missed!

Sadness that Dr Pickens is retiring. He brought me thru my chemo treatments with care and compassion. He always had a smile and time to listen

Dr. Pickens is great. He got me through my cancer 16 years ago and keeps as close a watch on my general health as my primary. I would certainly recommend him although I understand he has cut back his hours significantly.

Dr. Pickens has been my hematologist since 2005. My CLL is in remission, but I continue to see him every 5 or 6 months to make sure I don't require any further treatment.

I have been going to doctor Pickens for 10 years and Wouldn't want another doctor.. He is the best is the most caring personable knowledgeable Doctor and he takes action right away when needed.

I would like the results of my blood tests sent to me and my Primary Care doctor, Dr. James Foxhall with TriValley. I did call to make this request. Dr, Pickens also said he would remind Dr. McGrath about the scan of my thyroid since Dr. McGrath usually has this done during my visit every 2 years. I am scheduled to see Dr. McGrath in November 2022.

I have been a patient for 37 years and he is responsible for treating my cancer and the fact I am alive today.

Dr. Pickens will be a great loss to Jefferson/Abington when he decides to retire. He is very down to earth. He shows tremendous concern for the health of his patients.

Dr. Pickens was very interested in what I had to say and how I was feeling. He was very patient and thorough in his examination. We discussed my blood results, talked about my history, things that I could/should be doing to remain healthy such as weight loss and we laid out a plan of things I need to do before my next visit, mammagram, follow-up visits with other specialist and a goal for weight loss.

Dr Pickens always discussed my concerns and reviews my lab results during my appointment. He gives me time to ask questions and gives clear answers. He remembers my concerns and things we talked about at previous appointments and asks questions about them. His exams are gentle and thorough He lets me know about current and future treatments available for my diagnosis. He keeps up to date on those treatments and attends meetings and conferences to keep current with what is available to treat my diagnosis and other diagnoses. He does not keep me waiting but gives me as much time as I need during my appointments. He is warm and caring during the appointment

Dr. Peter Pickens is a brilliant, thorough, compassionate and dedicated physician! He took wonderful care of my mother many years ago and I now see him for my own medical care. He is one of the most knowledgeable physicians I have ever met and also one of the most caring and kind!!! I always feel so much better after speaking to him at my appointments.
